This time the criticism comes from Bill McKibben, and it makes me wonder whether they think the president is POTUS or world dictator? It would be interesting to see what kinds of concessions they would get when dealing with almost 200 countries, each with its own agenda? Sometimes I wish it were possible for some people to walk in the shoes of the president. I don't think they'd get very much done. It's easy standing on the outside looking in when you don't really have to wade into the mud to do the actual work.
I think what a lot of progressives have not thought about very much is the importance of getting the hcr bill out of the Senate and into the Conference Committee where changes can be made. As I wrote previously, the pessimism in the liberal blogosphere was wreaking havoc on me. I think sometimes it's better being older because by then you have learned something about patience, and that you don't always get everything you want. Sometimes you have to take baby steps and not look upon those as not taking any steps at all, but then, I'm the classic example of the perennial optimist. I'll either make lemonade or lemon meringue pie with my lemons rather than sit there worrying that all I have are lemons. When you teach school for a living like I did for over 30 years, you get very used to making the best use of limited resources, and it's a career field that requires huge amounts of patience to get things done.morb320https://www.blogger.com/profile/06048555904519965581noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2000061249436912064.post-39434249635909136662009-12-19T16:56:20.771-06:002009-12-19T16:56:20.771-06:00yes Annette he can be assertive :-), LOL! I do hope the Senate passes the bill so that it can be improved through merging it with the House bill.

With LIEberman in Connecticut, though, I'm concerned that he may choose to be snowed in all next weekTomCathttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11397335545286040472noreply@blogger.com
