The President's Weekly Address: Fair Pay for Doctors

From the White House blog:

With doctors facing deep cuts in their reimbursements from Medicare unless Congress acts to correct long-standing problems, the President calls on Senate Republicans to stop blocking the remedy and pledges to work toward a permanent solution. The cuts would potentially mean widespread trouble for seniors getting needed care.

I have been hearing and seeing an AD on the TeeVee Machine for the last couple of weeks about this from the AMA.. Once again, the Rethugs in Congress are being their obstructionist selves.

They were the ones crying about cutting Medicare and how badly the Health Reform was going to hurt doctors and seniors and now, they are the ones potentially hurting Doctors and Seniors.

It is all based on the premise if we obstruct enough, we will win again. That's the bottom line. Please call your Congress Critter and let them know how you feel. It is very important we protect our Seniors and the Doctors. They don't get paid much by Medicare and if this cut goes through, there will be more doctors not accepting Medicare. It is already hard to find a doctor who will take NEW Medicare patients. My doctor will not accept new ones.... just because of the pay rate and the paperwork involved with claims.

None of us are getting younger... and we will all need Medicare when we retire.... Think about that, and think about your parents and others who are getting ready to file for Medicare and will be unable to find a doctor, or will not be able to choose the doctor they want.

I was watching a replay on C-Span this morning, Obama talking to seniors about healthcare. If the GOP would stop twisting his words and the public would LISTEN to what Obama says, then he can get it through the heads of the misguided that dems are here to help them and to fix the wrongs from the GOP. God I just hope we have the chance to get it all done! It's the GOP who are WRONG on every front, NOT democrats and Obama!

Yes, Sue you are so right...I am just afraid we are all preaching to the choir... We know who is on the side of the correct, however the ones who need to be hearing it are deaf.

I'm not sure this isn't a lot of political posturing. The Republicans will be committing political suicided if they don't support this.

Republican obstruction and lies led to a watered down health insurance bill. It's kept us from enacting true regulation that could have prevented the BP oil gusher.

Until the republicans are made to stop they will do this. It's all they have.

It pisses me off that President Obama has to do the dirty work of exposing these scumbags.

One thing the feeble right wing fool McCain said that made sense was when he told us he would make the legislators who sought earmarks "famous." While I think McCain was being disingenuous that earmarks would actually make a difference in the national debt, the obstructionist republicans like Boehner and McConnell need a good media and advertising horse whipping at every opportunity.

Some may wax nostalgic for a simpler time of honest politics and civility. Those times only live in the imaginations of the naieve. politics has always been brutal. Obama and the DNC need to be brutal on the republicans to keep their lies from leading them back to the majority.

Sorry Leslie.. but yes, the GOPers are just that stupid. Anything.. no matter what Obama wants they will oppose... We can only hope there are a few sane ones who will help get this done.

Remember it was the Bushies who wanted to privatize Social Security... put it in the Stock Market... aren't we glad they didn't.

You are so correct Truth.. I really can't say anything but to agree with you 150%.

You might be right Annette but is it worth losing the votes of seniors and doctors? There have been some recent polls lately that show the number of Republicans who are unhappy with their party is increasing dramatically

Look what they have done to the Latino's and other groups.... They have marginalized themselves until it is going to be hard for them to ever win a national election... Which doesn't break my heart.

I have seen more and more die hard GOPers saying they don't understand the party leaders anymore.

It's not the rank and file, it is McConnell, Boner and Cantor who are the biggest problem.
