Must Read Today About Ali Soufan

Here is a Blog Post I got from Twitter that you must read today. I posted about Ali Soufan, the FBI agent who interrogated and obtained the information legally and without torture from Abu Zubayda.

Here is some background information on him from another blogger and a link to a story in Newsweek that is wonderful.

They are both MUST READS.

Here is the link to TAPPED by Adam Serwer

Here is the link to the Newsweek story, "We Could Have Done This The Right Way"

Like I said both very interesting and both must reads. This is a man who protested the torture tactics and said they weren't needed and would only harm the prisoners and our Country. In 2002, he said that. BEFORE THE MEMOS WERE WRITTEN!!!! That can't be stated enough. They knew what they were doing was wrong.

I read about Soufan yesterday in the HuffPo and am so glad that he decided to speak out. This man is an eyewitness to the fact that torture doesn't work and that Cheney and company are lying about its' effectiveness. I hope more insiders speak out on the ineffectiveness of torture. No wonder the FBI declined to get involved in torturing enemy combatants. According to articles I've read, the FBI had more experience with interrogating suspects and getting results without using torture. Bushco decided to use torture when they couldn't get info linking Iraq to al quaeda (?). I say examine as much evidence as is available and follow the trail wherever it leads.

This debate over torture is ridiculous. It's like the debate over how many angels could stand on the point of a pin in the late Middle Ages. Torture is wrong, morally and ethically and legally. Anyone who supports it is a moral idiot. Or maybe just an idiot. AAAAAAAAAAAGGGGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!
It makes me crazy. Stop it already. Stop the stupid debate and let's prosecute a few suits.
