RIP Teddy

One year ago today... Denver, CO.. do you remember this? I do.. I was in tears then and I am in tears now. The tears are different, we have lost the lion of the Senate today. He will be sorely missed.

Damn you wimpy idiots for not getting these bills passed before the break so he could see Health Care done before he died... That's all he wanted this year. He worked so hard all his life to get this done.

I couldn't think of a more appropriate tribute to him than his convention speech from last year and his eulogy of his brother Bobby.. both of those are some of the greatest words. So here is my tribute to Teddy Kennedy.

From his eulogy of his brother there are these words.. I think we can all say them and feel we are his brothers today..

My brother need not be idealized, or enlarged in death beyond what he was in life; to be remembered simply as a good and decent man, who saw wrong and tried to right it, saw suffering and tried to heal it, saw war and tried to stop it.

Those of us who loved him and who take him to his rest today, pray that what he was to us and what he wished for others will some day come to pass for all the world.

Now, get on the phone, get out the emails and let your Senators and Representatives know you want Health Care done. In the memory of Sen. Edward M. Kennedy.

Unbelievable sadness is enveloping me today, I just can not stop crying and I need to because Amelia is here. If this doesn't move Democrats to work hard for reform I don't know what will. I'm typing thru tears, hope my spelling is OK!

My son called me late last night from Boston. We knew it was coming, but it's still a kick to the gut. Kennedy may well have been the last great senator.

K. Sen. Kennedy was THE greatest senator this country has ever had. Can you believe the wingnuts talking about the Mary Jo tragedy, they can't stop the hate talk for even this solemn day! Making fun of the suggestions for the health reform bill to bear the name of Ted Kennedy. The hate is unreadable today, I must stop!

this is more than the passing of ted kennedy. it's also a symbolic end to the way the senate used to be. it's no longer a place for serious and respectful debate to carry out the business of the people. instead, it's a partisan food fight.

My feelings for Teddy and the Kennedys are deep and strong, but I can't cry! He fought the good fight all his life. For me, Teddy's life and all he accomplished made John's and Bobby's deaths bearable. His life was a celebration of liberal values. If I am sobbing at all, it is more a lump in the throat as I gaze at the crowd of his fellow senators and wonder who among them has the juevos & national stature to step in & restore sanity back to the health care. Who among them can roar?
