President's Weekly Address: Progress with the G-20 in Pittsburgh

From the White House web site:

Recorded literally on his way back from the G-20 Summit in Pittsburgh, the President uses his Weekly Address to recap the progress made during the intensive discussions with world leaders. From an historic agreement to reform the global financial system, to groundbreaking commitments on reducing subsidies to fossil fuels worldwide, to unity in standing against threats to world peace -- engagement produced tangible results in several areas.

The President this week was given a high honor by chairing the UN Security Council. He is the first US President given this honor. He also brought together ISRAELI Prime Minister Ehud Olmert and Palestinian president Mahmud Abbas since they were elected or put into office and held peace talks with them. This is the first of his outreaches to them in order to achieve lasting peace in the area.

Our President is ambitious if nothing else. He had meetings with Russian President Medvedev whom he has developed a true friendship it appears. At least a good working relationship..

And out of the relationship they and others on the council released information regarding Iran. It stunned the world. But, Israel was aware of it and had warned the world but most people just sloughed it off..

President Obama, not wanting to be like Pres. Bush and being known as the boy who cried wolf, waited until he had definite proof of nuclear buildings that were for bombs not power plants as the Iranians had stated earlier, to release the information. However that doesn't mean he is rushing to war either, as did Pres. Bush. Thank goodness for that. We really have a smart man in office.

Now, here is the President.

I always just post the videos of this.. if anyone would like me to post the transcript, I can start doing that too.. just leave me a message in comments and I will see and answer.. I will be glad to post them along with the video. Thanks all.

I love that you post the video each week - keeps me up to date! Vid's fine for me...

What a difference an Administration makes! We are back on the road to being a respected world leader again. Wow - using diplomatic channels to regulate nuclear proliferation, instead of a war? What a concept! :)

Glad you're back, Girlfriend. How did the battle with the wilderness go?

I was thinking the exact thing momma p, its so refreshing having an intelligent, well-spoken, respected President! The only choice for existing in a peaceful world is thru diplomacy. I'm so thankful for you Barack Obama!

I too so admire our President. I don't agree with him on everything, but for most things I am in awe of his honesty, his intelligence and his integrity. He is resetting our standing in the world and making us a force in the diplomatic arena again.

Thanks for your input guys... and I will continue with the video until someone asks for the transcript.

Try to think for a moment what the response would have been, if GW ChickenHawk were still pResident. I consider us fortunate.

You are so correct Tom.. we are very fortunate.. I can't even imagine, but I suspect he would have sent in the B-2's from Whiteman.. near me.. lol and they would have bombed the shit out of the place.. lol

Yeah, I can't see The Shrug chairing anything, Kids, especially with the eloquence and dignity of our current Commander-in-Chief. It really is refreshing. Got to the point where I couldn't even watch Bush speak...I'd have needed the transcript for sure, Annette! ;)

Actually I love seeing them.. they are neat to watch them fly.. When they first started bringing them in here and flying them it was awesome seeing them, and the fighters.. they were so unusual looking, well they still are.. and it was so cool.. to see them flying at you.. just awe inspiring to see them really.

I drove within a few miles of the place quite often when I was driving for Tyson.. so I saw them everytime I came home or left on a trip... It's only about 20 miles from where I live, but it's something I have gotten used to.. I don't worry so much now, as we used to when the ICBM's were all in the silo's around here.. that was scary.

Yeah, seeing them fly out of the silos would not be comforting at all!
