Bill Maher Real Time March 20, 2009

Bill Maher was on fire last night... I normally just post the New Rules.. but I am posting more today. This Week's Guests, Madeleine Albright, fmr. US Secretary of State, Keith Olbermann, political commentator, Kerry Washington, actor, Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-VT), Andrew Ross Sorkin, The New York Times. Very well rounded panel and very good discussion of everything. That's why I decided to post the entire show.

I think it has been so long since we have had a truly progressive agenda in the White House, we as a people have really forgotten what it looked like and that's why we have forgotten how to act. Bernie Sanders is a good one to listen to for a reality check. He is behind Pres. Obama 100% it sounds like to me and it might be we should examine some of ourselves a little and decide what we are going to do. Which side of that fence are you really on?

The New Rules are in this section and the next one. They are good this week, better than last week.

New Rules continue in here, Also in this "Overtime" section is a discussion by everyone which is very good.

Dang ~ that was a long series of posts-- love the talking baby doll.

Anyway... the question you pose-- which side of the fence are you really on is not so black & white in my mind.

Of course I want to support Obama & I want big changes with a progressive bent, if you will.

But it's not all or nothing. AS Maher asks- the dems are supposed to be the good guys & they suck.

the other element is - is Obama trying to do too much.

He was handed a platter of huge problems. Unprecedented monster problems.
So we can;t realistically expect him to have a magic wand to fix them all... and he will probably be totally grey haired by the time he leave office.

Talk about stress!

Just saying ou are progressive is not enough-- ou have to deal with things like how much this country spends on military & wars, in the midst of this budget meltdown.

We can;t do business as usual, and that example of military spending is one huge issue.

Do we want healthcare & education or do we want more wars... because we are at a point of having to chose.

The times they are a changing.

And tax the damned rich-- why wait 2 more years???

I don;t see more war spending, or rich tax breaks as progressive-- so that is the side of the fence I am on.

Excellent show Friday night. Madeleine Albright is actually interesting to listen to - be it her intelligence or sense of humor. Her analysis of each individual....NUTS! she was spot-on.
