What battered newsrooms can learn from Stewart's CNBC takedown

What battered newsrooms can learn from Stewart's CNBC takedown from Philly.com shows what real reporting is like. This is why papers are dying all over the country. We have no real reporters any more.

No one is really trying to write newspaper stories. No one is trying to do real reporting.

This is a really great article. It really sums up what I think is a basic problem that started when Bill Clinton was elected President and just continued through the Bush years.

As President Obama puts it, we call it "silly season".

I hope that smarts. Listening to Cramer talk about what a bad job Obama is doing, and being taken seriously, no less, is really hard to take given the fact that he's been totally wrong. Why doesn't that matter at all?

Stewart and Colbert are both great. I don't watch any of the so-called "news" programs anymore - I get most of my information on the daily events from them, and of course Rachel Maddow and Keith Olbermann. I do still read newspapers, but I will actually search on the internet for more than one article on a controversial subject to make sure what I'm reading wasn't being spun in one direction or the other. You just can't trust anything these days, which is why Stewart and Colbert are so important.
