I think it is time we all, and I do mean ALL of us paid a little attention to what he is saying. After the breach at the White House the other night.. it is getting very serious out there.
People are calling for outright WAR against this President... and we have people on the Left side of politics criticizing him almost as much as ones on the right, if not more. Because they don't think he is moving fast enough, or he isn't doing what they want as they think he should.
There is a billboard up not far from my house calling for an armed revolution against the "Government". It has the quote on it... "Live Free or Die". If I can get a picture I will... but it is hard when it is on Interstate 70 in a pretty high traffic area.
This segment of Rachel is a few days old... but Frank makes some very valid points and if you haven't seen it... you need to watch it.. if you have.. maybe you need to watch it again.. and really LISTEN to what he says.
I may not agree with everything the President says or does.. but to rail against him publicly is to align yourself with the RWNJ's. Is that what you want? Because that's what I think when I read your postings and stuff... Just think about it with an open mind and see what you think. No I am not saying you have to be all love and roses all the time... but temper your thoughts a little. Don't be so negative and critical.
After Saturday's WingNut Parade in Washington, DC, and the pictures of them all with their signs and costumes on display for all to see, they have now attacked everyone who called them out for their hypocrisy.
These people slept through the last 8 years of the squandered surplus that Pres. Clinton left for Pres. Bush 43, and never said a word, when he passed his Trillion, yes that is Trillion dollar tax cuts for the wealthiest in our country, then again when he passed the Medicare part D supplement which also added to the deficit and left us in debt to the tune of 1.3 Trillion, again that is TRILLION dollars..
Then we have the wars, of course, not very many and I do mean almost no one disagreed with the war in Afghanistan. However, Iraq was a very different story. Pres. Bush ginned up the intelligence, lied to the American people and to his own staff and administration and pushed Congress into a war with Iraq.
There were protests all over this country and the world against this, yet no one, the media, everyone ignored it. We were considered unpatriotic, treasonous and disloyal for speaking out against the President.

Some even saying he is the Devil, the Anti-Christ, the personification of evil.
All during the 8 years of the Bush Administration it was considered unpatriotic to speak out against the president, after 9-11-01, and especially after we went to war in Afghanistan. Almost all of the talking heads on Fox Noise, because I refuse to call it news.. said so..
Even the Dixie Chicks were basically run out of the country because they dared to criticize the President.
Music superstars the Dixie Chicks are finding out that criticizing President Bush's plans for war in Iraq can cost you air play, big time.
Country stations across the United States have pulled the Chicks from playlists following reports that lead singer Natalie Maines said in a concert in London earlier this week that she was "ashamed the president of the United States is from Texas."
Station managers said their decisions were prompted by calls from irate listeners who thought criticism of the president was unpatriotic.
The group, which got its start in Texas, was one of the darlings of this year's Grammy Awards. The three-woman band that blends blue grass and pop hooks has spawned legions of fans who embrace the ideals of strong women celebrated in some of the trio's songs.
One station in Kansas City, Missouri held a Dixie "chicken toss" party Friday morning, where Chick critics were encouraged to dump the group's tapes, CDs and concert tickets into trash cans.
Houston country station KILT pulled the band's records from its playlist -- at least temporarily -- after 77 percent of people polled on its Web site said they supported the move.
"We've got them off the air for right now," said Jeff Garrison, program director at KILT, which is owned by Viacom's Infinity Broadcasting Corp.
"People are shocked. They cannot believe Texas' own have attacked the state and the president," Garrison said.
Lead singer Maines said in a statement she felt the president was ignoring the opinions of many in the United States and alienating the rest of the world by pushing for war with Iraq.

As you see, you weren't allowed to criticize the President during the Bush Administration. Oh, there were random people who did, and they were promptly trashed, run out of the country, see above, or literally swept up and put in jail, to be never heard from again.
Yet, we never heard a word from these so called Tea Partiers then. They were perfectly fine with everything that went on. During the 8 years that George Bush was President, lets look at some things that might have gotten someone's attention and lead to a protest.
First lets start with ignoring the intelligence memo of Aug. 2001 which warned him of the impending attack on the United States by Bin Laden.
Then there is the Iraq War, which we have already discussed. Again, never budgeted, never paid for.
Then we have the Tax Cuts, for the wealthy, which put us into massive debt, especially when combined with the Medicare overhaul which gave us Part D, he didn't bother to pay for.
Then, we have the crimes of Torture and imprisonment of innocents from all over the world, even our own citizens. Wiretapping of our own citizens and military members speaking to their spouses.
I could go on but I think that is enough.
Now, we have elected Barack Obama, and he walked in the door with a HUGE deficit, 1.3 Trillion Dollars. An economy on the verge of and in collapse. Upon advise of economists he urged Congress to act and they did.. with very little support from republicans.
He didn't do this because he wanted to, but because he had to.
Pres. Bush, is the one who bailed out the banks with no oversight, Pres. Bush is the one who bailed out the Auto companies with no oversight, not Pres. Obama.
Pres. Obama then came in and cleaned up after this mess he was left, and tried to make it better. He is calling for oversight on the banks and on the stock markets, and he has forced the Auto companies into bankruptcy so they can restructure and stand on their own.
Since, these wingnuts think I lied about all the pictures and about the numbers I want to point out that Politifact rated the pictures as Pants On Fire wrong.. Matter of fact, the picture they are using to try to show it was 2 million at the wingnut rally, was from a rally in 2004.. maybe it was even a war protest.. that would be about how smart most of them are.

Nowhere do I see a crowd near the size of what was in DC on January 20th, when the estimates were of 1.5 million people. Again, the DC Fire Department and the Park Police say the size was maybe 60 to 70,000, and that is a generous estimate.
These pictures are not random, these pictures are all through the crowds.. anyone who says they are not all over is a liar.. they are the ones who aren't being honest. Not me.

Anyway...to go on with my point.. This piece by him is about "The Waterboarding of America" as he titles it. This is what he has to say:
It's a harmless-sounding word in itself. Until a couple of years ago, "waterboarding" sounded like some kind of fun at the beach.
But after 9/11, after American and allied forces invaded Iraq and made incursions into Afghanistan hunting for Osama bin Laden, and after our homeland intelligence apprehended and arrested known and suspected jihadist terrorists bent on killing more Americans, the word took on a more ominous meaning. Thanks to much media exploitation, politically motivated accusations, certain criminally leaked classified information and of course some actual facts, the word "waterboarding" became synonymous with heinous, barbaric torture.
Since America became a nation, torture has never been identified with our policy or procedure. Investigative techniques and interrogation, yes, but always within humane limits – never the torture racks, lashings, beatings, burnings, nail-pullings, starvation, or sadistic mutilation practiced by so many other cultures and adversaries. We've expected our military to extract and obtain essential information through intelligent, often covert, sometimes even psychological means.
What happened? Something almost unprecedented. We were completely blindsided, attacked on our own soil, in our own airplanes and towers, and even in the Pentagon, in broad daylight. It was devastating, and after the first shock, it was obvious that if we did not act quickly and with almost no thought of normal restraint, it would happen again, and even more violently, and with even more catastrophic results.
We were at war, against an enemy with absolutely no moral compunction and with a demonic bloodlust to destroy us, our homes and families and way of life – and with even a religious desire to die while destroying us! It was a relentless waking nightmare, and it was real.
Those charged with the responsibility to protect this country – the president, the administration, the military, our intelligence agencies – quickly mobilized to do anything and everything possible to avert the next attacks. As captives were taken, they were subjected to every method of interrogation we'd ever tried, and because of the extreme urgency and unimaginable danger, when captives wouldn't divulge information that would save American lives, in some instances some interrogators went further than they had before.
They didn't kill, they didn't maim, they didn't inflict permanent injury, but they sure made the captive feel as if he were about to drown. They tied him down inclined, head a bit lower than feet, covered his face with towels, poured water on and through the towels and into his face, sometimes in his nostrils, and let him know this frightening and extremely uncomfortable experience could end if he would tell what he knew about the plans to wreak more devastation and kill more Americans. This procedure, unsettling as it is, came to be known worldwide as "waterboarding."
It came to be known worldwide because liberal media, abetted by a few political and military figures who didn't seem to grasp the urgency of stopping the maniacal plots against innocent civilians, revealed classified information and screamed "TORTURE!" Having no clue about how to get to the essential information some other way, but perhaps imagining themselves in the position of the captive, they just condemned those who were actually getting the job done at least in part.
Almost ignored in all the anti-American clamor was the fact that Khalid Sheikh Mohammed, confessed mastermind of the World Trade Center carnage, as a result of being "waterboarded" 130 times – with no lasting damage at all – finally divulged information that thwarted the destruction of the Brooklyn Bridge and saved an estimated 10,000 innocent lives! So the technique, harsh as it is, proved effective.
And now, whether expressly intended or not, America is being waterboarded!
The nation – its economy and political body – has been strapped down, blindfolded and hosed. A new administration, empowered by control of both houses of Congress and the most liberal president in history, is immersing us all in a torrent of debt. While we gasp for breath and try to cry "Time out!" we continue to be flooded with staggering commitments neither we nor our children have approved or will be able to fulfill.
New thousand-page bills and proposed expenditures are rushed together and dumped on beleaguered senators and representatives, proposing trillions of dollars of new taxpayer debt – and Pelosi, Reed, Waxman and the president's team demand approval overnight, without time to even read the bills!
And menacingly, chief of staff waterboarder Rahm Emanuel actually says "… we can't afford to waste a crisis; it gives us a chance to push through initiatives we couldn't get otherwise." How blatant can you get?
The American people have long opposed abortion, same sex "marriage," universal, socialistic health care and a host of other ultraliberal causes; current polls confirm we still do. But the waterboarding began, literally, within the first three days of this new administration. With no instigation from Congress, the freshman president picked up his new hose of authority and, by executive order, overturned the long-standing Reagan-era regulations prohibiting foreign aid going to organizations that finance overseas abortions – and handed international Planned Parenthood, chief provider of abortions worldwide, 200 million taxpayer dollars!
And now, while we're strapped down by the Democrat-controlled Congress, gasping and gulping beneath a flood of strong-arm tactics, the "health reform" bill taking shape outlines a "minimum-benefits package" that will be universal – that is, required of every American's insurance plan, whether provided by a private firm or by the government.
Cunningly, abortion isn't specifically mentioned, but will be decided by a "Health Benefits Advisory Committee," handpicked by the president and his HHS Secretary Kathleen Sibelius, who already has a record while governor of Kansas supporting late-term abortions! See how this "taking advantage of a crisis" thing works?
But we're not helpless yet, folks. We're drenched and near-drowned and gasping for breath, but there's a growing coalition of staunch Republican and "blue dog" Democrats in both houses of Congress digging in their heels and saying, "Wait! This is all too much, too fast! We need time to read and digest and consider this torrent of legislation. Mr. President, hold off!"
And that gives us debt-soaked citizens a chance to rise up and gasp and spit and shout: "MR. PRESIDENT, AND YOU, TOO, CONGRESS! YOU WORK FOR US! NOT THE OTHER WAY AROUND! WE VOTED YOU IN! AND WE CAN TAKE YOU OUT! STOP THIS WATERBOARDING!!"

I have seen this before lately.. this phrasing of the wars being over and in the past. They use this to justify torture, the spending during the 8 years of the Bush misadministration and anytime they want to put down Pres. Obama.
I had read the other day that Pat was also one of the "Birthers" now.. so this just makes perfect sense for him to publish his screed on WND. This is where all the wing nuts go to rant. He cites several off the wall claims to back up his "proof" that he needs to "see" the president's birth certificate so he will know he was born in the US.

Pat Boone is just the latest in a line of idiots that are coming out of the woodwork who are one of the so called religious right who can't stand the fact there is a black man in the White House and his policies and his popularity is greater than theirs.
That is the entire thing in a nut shell. It ties in with the rants of Glenn Beck, Sean Hannity, Rush Limbaugh and others we have heard. It even fits with the majority of the rethuglicans in Congress.
We have to stand up to these idiots and start really calling them out and not letting them get by with this. Bill Maher said it best this week when he wrote this week in the LA Times and on his New Rules about letting them get by with it. He compared them to the Whitewater of the Clinton years and the Swiftboaters of Kerry. We can't just ignore them and expect them to go away.. they aren't.
The Op-Ed is great and should be read. I don't always agree with everything Bill says but he is spot on with this one.
Think about it.. and sorry for this being so long. There is just a lot of stuff I had to get in here.. Hope you will pass this along and help get this message out there. We have to stop these people. They are more prevalent than you think. Way more.
Last week was a banner week for the right side of America. They aren't dealing well with being out of power and having a black man in the White House.
But we knew that, part of that started when they realized he was going to win, way back last year. They attacked everything about him, actually when it became obvious he was a serious candidate and even had a chance of coming in close to second to Hillary. Because, NO ONE could beat Hillary. Especially not a black man named Barack Hussein Obama.
But he did defeat Hillary and then went on to defeat McCain, war hero, POW, and become the 44th President. That's when the heads of the people on the right side of America exploded.
It seemed this week things got just a little more over the top than usual. Maybe it was the loss of two of their rising stars, in Ensign and Sanford, when they both admitted to having affairs, that caused Beck and Limbaugh to go off their rockers just a bit more this week and say some pretty extraordinary things.
Rush was all about hoping for this to happen this week, but not in a good way. Listen to this if you can stand it.
Yeah, that's right, Rush is all for a Coup here in America, for us having an overthrow of the Government and someone violently taking back the country and putting someone else in charge.. Not sure who he wants in there.. Maybe him.. Oh, I got it..
That's why Palin resigned Friday.. He had it all planned out.
Then the next day he tried to say that the President was not praising the troops and that he didn't support the troops and said he had sought the defeat of the troops in Iraq.
Then on July 1, he said this, "This is Barack Obama, who led from the United States Senate his party into doing everything he could to ensure the defeat of the U.S. military. ... This party was doing everything it could to impugn and dishonor the military."
This thread of commentary clearly is pushing toward a single thought -- to push people in the armed forces into seeing Obama as a usurper and traitor, just like the Honduran president, and toward the idea that a similar military-based removal of him from office might be justified.
Keep in mind that Limbaugh is only of only four pundits still broadcast daily on Armed Services Radio, so our men and women in uniform are getting fed this garbage on a daily basis. (And Wes Clark was right: It is well past time to take him off.)
Limbaugh in fact is picking up on sentiments already circulating on the right. Larisa Alexandrovna at AtLargely picked up on the chatter going on at various right-wing blogs after Honduras coup, pointing in particular to the Gateway Pundit's commenters, who posted such items as the following:

Next we come to Glenn Beck and his guests. First is Michelle Bachmann. She has been on his show numerous times. Lately her big thing is the census.
Of course she has also been on lately about Cap & Trade or the ACES bill which just passed the House, which Beck used to point out the 8 republicans as Traitors and put up their phone numbers so everyone could call them and threaten them for voting for it.
But the topper for Beck this week was when he had a former CIA agent on with him.. yes, a great America loving, patriotic, former CIA agent named Michael Scheuer. His great claim to fame was he served as the Chief of the Bin Laden Issue Station.
That just makes what he had to say on the show with Beck even more strange. Watch this.
It is actually hard to believe someone would come right out and say they wanted the US to be attacked in order to help us or save us or something. I am not quite sure I get the reasoning behind it. But that's what he said. Like I said, its been a hell of a week for the right side of America. And by right, I sure don't mean the CORRECT.

While I was perusing DailyKos yesterday I ran across a diary that was talking talking about a warning that one of the Freepers was putting out about threatening President Obama. Of course I had to read it.

Unfortunately, we are saddled with a communist sympathizer in the White House. I don't know whether or not he's an actual card carrying commie, but he's definitely an America-hating, anti-capitalist Marxist leftist who thinks communism is the way to go. Now I remember when America used to fight against communism. It wasn't that long ago. Many of us on FR are veterans of wars against communism and some of us believe that American citizens who are communists are the enemy within, ie, the domestic enemy we've sworn to defend against. American citizen? hmmmm... that may be a loophole for Obama.
At any rate, the oath is to defend our constitution against all enemies foreign and domestic. I can imagine that this places an enormous strain on our Secret Service agents. It's obvious to anyone with a brain that Obama is an enemy of the constitution. So should the SS defend the constitution or defend the anti-constitution commie?
So now comes the problem. If you feel it's your duty to call Obama a traitor and use salty language in your proposed resolution, ie, suggest the commie be keelhauled, walked off the plank, run up the yardarm, tarred and feathered and run out of Dodge, etc, etc, etc, you may be facing a visit from your friendly Secret Service. And even though your visiting agent may agree politically, and may take his oath to the constitution seriously, he's still sworn to protect the officeholder and it's his duty to take all threats seriously. And that may include serving me with a subpoena to turn over your IP address. Now I'm duty bound to protect your privacy to the best of my ability, but I cannot defend against stupidity.
Best advice I can give is to keep it to yourself. Don't post anything that may embarrass you later, or end you up in the slammer.

Now the diarist pointed out the portion that was bold was his emphasis, so I have made it the same here. Just to show you that evidently he has had a problem with this. Really?? Already, he has had a visit from the SS over a threat to the President?? That's not saying much for his commenter's would you say, or him for that matter. And sounds like he is trying to distance himself from them. LOL
He then goes on to point out some of the comments that were found. This first one was a real brave one... I used to love this stuff when I was driving. Some unknown voice on the CB Radio would come out and threaten another and be very brave and big talking.. Usually to the effect of, pull that truck over and I will whip your ass, just park it right there and I will be right there... of course you had no idea where the other person was, if they were even in the same county you were or even going in the same direction. But like I said, it is easy to be brave when you are anonymous.

So, he must have been scared of them...Or they were so incendiary in nature they set the page on fire...lol Then we get just a little more detached from reality than we already are.
We will never go back to Mayberry America because the Left has made it their mission to wipe it off the map and out of the fabric of our society long ago. There are consequences for those actions by the Left. One consequence is that far fewer conservatives are willing to "take the bullet" for these treasonous bas-tards who call themselves "Americans" anymore.
I don't know many people who ever really lived in "Mayberry America" in the first place. And the only people I know of that are willing to "take the bullet" for anyone is the men and women who serve everyday in our military and the police forces and the Secret Service. It certainly isn't these idiots who sit on the computer and call out the President.

So how divorced from reality are these people?? What planet are they on?? I admit I felt my heart skip a beat Friday when I heard a news report of shots fired at the UofI in Chicago. The first thing I thought of was William Ayers. Wondering if someone had decided to try to kill him. There were numerous threats against him after Palin started her campaign to paint him as a major figure in Pres. Obama's life last year.
But, I didn't hear anything more, so I am guessing things are ok and there was no one injured or it was a false report.
There have been threats to the President, just last week there was a report of two DC police officers who were suspended for the possibility of associating with people who might have wanted to harm him on Inauguration Day.
When I was doing some research for this and another story I stumbled on something that I had not seen before, which was a man that was arrested from Louisiana, who was trying to deliver a "gift" he said to President Obama. The gift he was wanting to deliver??? It looks like it might have been a bullet from the rifle he had with him. Yes, he stopped to ask for directions at the Capitol complex, and was acting so bizarre he was questioned a little further and it was determined he needed to be detained.
We have entered into the realm of bizarro world for sure. We have radio hosts wishing for failure. We have TeeVee hosts calling him Communist, Socialist, Marxist saying he is killing the Stock Market, robbing our children and grandchildren. Do they not realize how irresponsible this is??
People are already hurting and depressed, when they are they do crazy things. Then you get people who have a national audience shouting out incendiary words that fire up anger, fear, and make people lose rational thought process. They don't think before they act.

What will it take for these irresponsible people to think before they scream again.

Washington DC District Judge James Robertson wrote a particularly harsh 5 page memo yesterday to dismiss one of the latest cases challenging the birth place of President Obama.
This is something I have such a hard time understanding and is just completely over the top for me. Even the Republican Governor of Hawaii, where the President was born has stated his birth certificate is on file there and is valid, but this has not been enough for these conspiracy theorists.
I have posted before about that it has been verified by fact check, it has been posted on several different sites, yet they still persist that those are just copies so therefore that is not good enough.
Well, folks, most people DO NOT have their original birth certificate. I don't. I have a copy. The original is stored at the state capitol in Jefferson City, MO. So, I wouldn't be able to produce my original certificate either if someone demanded I have it.
Morning Joke is at it again.. This morning he is suggesting that President Obama is intentionally holding off fixing the banking problems so he can pass his budget and health care. He is also still calling for Sec. Geithner to be fired.
I think this does as much or more damage to the numbers on the stock market as anything else. How is the media, and much as I hate to admit it, this idiot is part of the media, talking down about the market helping?
All of them, who work in this medium, keep talking the stock market down.. telling us over and over it's bad, it's terrible. People hear this and react to it. They sell off. The market goes down. You would think, now that it is down to "historic lows" they would be telling people, hey there are bargains out there... BUY BUY .. but nope... they are still full of doom and gloom... so people are scared.. instead of these market analysts doing their job and telling people to buy, they are telling them how bad everything is.
Maybe I just don't understand how it is supposed to work, but that's sure how I thought it was supposed to be. You bought when the price was low and sold when the price was high... yeah sometimes things are bad and you have to sell off your stocks to cover an emergency, I get that... but if you are in it for the long haul as most investors are supposed to be, you leave it lay. When you buy stocks you buy low, you sell high.

A failed congressman who left office in disgrace after cheating on his wife, with an unexplained dead woman in his office. Her name was Lori Klausutis, she was 28-years-old and the medical examiner's office showed no foul play or any outward indication of suicide. That was it. Never explained, never reported any more. Just covered up.
What we also need to remember about Scarborough is that his evening show-Scarborough Country - was Ground Zero for the Swift Boat Liars in the summer of 2004. If it hadn't been for him and his attacks from there, we might be in year 5 of a Kerry Presidency.
I watch him every morning. This is how I get to see what the GOP talking points of the day are. I think they must fax them to him early before he goes on the air. Or maybe he just reads Drudge, not sure. But he usually has them down pat. It is almost sickening, but it is there and no one stops him from it for the most part, because he just shouts them down. Unless you are really brave and shout louder than him.

Right Wing Claims Stock Market Declined Because Obama Was Nominated For President Since the presidential election last November, the right wing has seized nearly every opportunity to link any sharp decline in the stock market (without any basis in fact) to Barack Obama. Yesterday, losses on Wall Street forced the Dow Jones industrial average to close “below 7,000 for the first time since 1997” and like clockwork, the right (and some on Wall Street) jumped to blame Obama. The Wall Street Journal claimed today that “Obama’s policies have become part of the economy’s problem.”
Laura Ingraham said today that Obama’s policies “are not giving us the confidence we need to get back into the market.” Rush Limbaugh and Sean Hannity touted the line as well, but added that the market’s problems started when Obama was nominated to be the Democratic Party’s candidate for president in the middle of last year:
LIMBAUGH: To say that Obama has been in office only one month is not accurate from an effect on the world and an effect on the country standpoint. Barack Obama has been the controlling political authority on the economy for six months.
HANNITY: Now if we go back to May 6th when it was apparent that he was going to probably be the Democratic nominee the stock market was over 13000, and if we go to October just before the election…the stock market was, what,around 11000 plus mark.
Of course, the Limbaugh-Hannity theory carries little weight as the market decline started well before Obama’s nomination. The market peaked in October 2007 and “came tumbling down last spring, when the bursting of the housing bubble started to add up to massive losses for Wall Street banks and other financial services firms tied to bad mortgages.”
In fact, yesterday’s decline came as “investors reacted to reports that construction and industrial activity had continued to decline and to a $61.7 billion loss posted by the insurance giant, the American International Group.” Moreover, the main issue surrounding the market’s fall is decreased company profits as a result of a weak economy, not Obama’s policies. As USA Today noted this morning, “[p]rofits are down sharply” which is “driving stock prices down sharply.”
President Obama noted earlier today that “the banking system has been dealt a heavy blow” to the market. “We dug deep hole for ourselves, he said. “There was a lot of bad decisions that were made. We’re cleaning up that mess. … But its going to get cleaned up.”
There is more and a video at the web site I posted above. As I said this ties into the what I posted below about Sec. Geithner. I really believe this just shows how they are trying to manipulate the markets and the economy to suit their agenda and to keep the numbers low and make it look like his policies are failing. This way they can keep everyone depressed and discouraged and stirred up.
We have to stay positive. We have to stay focused on the small gains we see here and there. Stick together and post about the jobs we see being created.
Remember we have each other and we can and will make it through this time. It may not always be easy, but we are tough people who have made it through tough times before. We will do it again.

The two months before Mr Obama is sworn in seem like an eternity.
So, as you can see, on Nov. 22, 2008 the Economist felt that Tim Geithner was a great choice.

Pending Senate approval, Geithner will take over one of the most important cabinet positions as the country struggles through a financial crisis and what could be a lengthy recession.
Stocks soared late this afternoon when news reports first started to surface that Geithner's nomination will be made official Monday. The Dow Jones industrial average ended the day up 494.13 points, or 6.5 percent.
It was very good news after two dismal days on Wall Street. Obama's Treasury picks seems to have pleased many investors who are apparently happy with Geithner's familiarity with the markets.
If you examine the life story of Geithner you may think he and Obama are brothers, separated at birth.
Now, I am hearing from my TeeVee Machine a different story. This morning the Joke of the Morning, and we all know who he is... keeps repeating he wants to fire him. Also, it's too bad he is dead. Of course, I don't put a lot of credence in what Joke says, but a lot of people do, or so I guess.
I think we have to start talking about this and doing a counter plan. I really believe there is a plan to talk the markets and the economy down. Think about it for a minute.
Do you ever hear ANY republican or conservative say anything good about the economy or the stock market?? Do you ever hear them say it is going to get better??
But they all keep saying that Pres. Obama has to be positive and talk up the economy. It is his fault the market is down. It is Tim Geithner's fault the banks are not doing better. He made a terrible presentation of the bank plan.
Larry Kudlow wants him to resign. Who is Larry Kudlow?? One of the loud talkers on CNBC, where so many people go to get their stock market and financial advice. Oh, and now he has announced he will probably challenge Sen. Chris Dodd for his Senate seat. As a republican.
Kudlow is also one of the people who is pushing the Santelli rant. We all know who Santelli is.. the reporter/trader who stood in the middle of the floor in the Chicago Board of Trade and challenged Pres. Obama. Then went on G.Gordon Liddy's radio show and said Robert Gibbs "threatened" him. He was scared, he claimed and his kids were afraid to go to school. Right...
Jim Cramer is another one. He constantly complains and blames Geithner and Pres. Obama for everything. Even though the entire worlds economy is faltering. It is Pres. Obama and Geither's fault.
Not long after Sec. Geithner unveiled his Bank Rescue plan here, he left and went to Rome where he met with the other leaders in the G-7. There he revealed to them the plan and discussed what he had in mind for the banks and how to help our economy.
It was well received and went over very well. However our media has never really reported on it. From the Washington Post:
Going into the meeting, Canadian Finance Minister James M. Flaherty called the U.S. financial rescue "less than clear," echoing comments made by financial chiefs in France and Germany. Afterward, many of the officials appeared reassured, saying that Geithner provided clear answers to their questions.
Several officials said Geithner was particularly helpful in explaining how the various elements of the administration's initiatives tie together as well as how he plans to combine public funds with private resources to get more bang out of every rescue dollar the governments spends.
"What Tim Geithner wanted to do is set out the framework in which he's operating," Britain's Chancellor Alistair Darling said in an interview. "But he's made it very clear that he sees the urgency of this." Darling told a group of reporters: "It's quite clear that the new American administration is getting into its stride, it wants to make a real difference not just for Americans but for the wider world."
These articles are there, but sometimes you have to dig for them. Maybe it isn't that his plan was not detailed enough here as our so called financial experts have said, maybe it is that they didn't want it to be.
Maybe it is not what they wanted, because if it all works out like Pres. Obama and Tim Geithner and all the rest of his team have put it together and have planned, then the Democrats will have won again and it will be the end of Reaganomics and the end of the so called "conservative" tax cuts.
Bloomberg also wrote that his answers were clear and detailed and they were happy with everything they heard.
Geithner answered questions from G-7 officials “very clearly,” Finance Minister Christine Lagarde told reporters in Rome yesterday. “On paper it looks great,” said Lagarde. “The essential thing is now to implement it.”
More details on a public-private partnership to buy banks’ illiquid assets will be delivered in coming weeks, a U.S. official said in Rome on condition he not be named.
Geithner’s plan to tackle the U.S. credit crisis also includes additional injections of capital into financial institutions and as much as $1 trillion to promote new lending to consumers and businesses.
So, we have to do something to help the President and Sec. Geithner. I think they are under attack from the right wing nut jobs.
We have to stay positive, we have to talk it up. We have to keep our eyes on the ball and start looking and searching for these positive stories and not just reading these negative stories that are in the forefront.
I think Sec. Tim Geithner will be fine, if we give him a chance and if we can get these jerks from the right wing to leave him alone. Remember they have had free rein for 8 years. Their very existence is threatened, so they have to attack, and that is exactly what they are doing.

I am waiting on some emails I have out, in order to form my story. Once I get the answers I will be able to finish it, or at least I hope I will.
When Republicans suffered a disastrous beating in November's election, it would have been fair to assume that things could not get worse for them: the-most-liberal-Senator was to be president, Nancy-Pelosi-from-San-Francisco was going to lead a massive Democratic majority in the House, and assorted socialists were going to run things. That was bad, yes, but this week, just like the stock market (funny how that goes), Republicans hit yet a new low.
They call this "Worst Week Ever: Republicans Unhinged" I think that pretty well describes them. To say they are not going around the bend is to deny they even exist. They are still even questioning his birth certificate as is found in the article noted above, and then in this one noted here by none other than Jerome Corsi again.
"It is not going off the table because people care about the Constitution. And it is in the Constitution that a president needs to be nationally born," he replied. "It is not settled. Barack Obama has not released his natural birth certificate. I don't know what is on that document. I'm not a mind reader. But I know that politicians of note do not hide documents unless there is something embarrassing that they don't want seen. And a birth certificate should be a mundane certificate. Obama could make this issue go away."
Even though Pres. Obama has released his birth certificate and it has been verified numerous times, these wing nuts still persist in calling him on it.
I am interested to see what anyone else might think about these things. See what you think about what they are saying and how you feel about where they are headed. Let me know.
I am not an attorney, nor am I an expert on these things, but to me this is just unreal. Of course I am sure they get around it by saying it is a futuristic scenario, but then they start talking about raising the tax rate up to 90 or 95%. So to me they are sending a very mixed message.
Of course, Glenn Beck is about the wing nuttiest of all the wing nuts. But it looks like he found a couple of other to help him along. They are talking about a militia and military units attacking people here in the USA and overthrowing the Government.

Sen Richard Shelby just joined the Douchebag Crowd even more than he had already been. During a public meeting he answered questions from citizens in his home state of Alabama about the Recovery Bill and other things. Here is the articled in its entirety for you to read. To Sen. Richard Shelby, borrowing $787 billion is not good fiscal responsibility.
“You can’t borrow your way to prosperity,” Shelby said. “We’re the largest debtor in the world. We’re stealing from our grandchildren.”
Shelby discussed President Barack Obama’s stimulus package and answered questions from the public at All Steak Restaurant during his annual meeting in Cullman County.
In front of a packed room, Shelby explained how he was a staunch proponent of fiscal responsibility and that he had opposed the $787 billion economic stimulus bill Obama signed into law earlier this week.
“If we (republicans) were in control, I would have been chairman of the banking committee ... and I would have killed some bills,” Shelby said with a laugh.
Shelby said he opposed the bill mainly because it requires the country to borrow billions for what he considers to be wasteful spending. In addition, he said he opposed the bill because nobody really knows yet where all the money will be going.
“Nobody’s read it yet,” Shelby said.
Shelby said to bring the country out of the current recession, Congress should not spend taxpayer dollars but instead straighten out the banking system that brought the economy to this point in the first place.
“I’m for more regulation of banks,” Shelby said. “The federal reserve is the regulator of big banks and they did a poor job.”
Shelby added that the larger banks, which the federal government bailed out last year, should have been allowed to fail.
“What I don’t want to see is a huge transfer of wealth from the taxpayers to banks that brought this problem on themselves,” Shelby said. “We’ll just have to prop them up again in the long run.”
After noting that since previous administrations have already placed the country more than $10 trillion in debt, local resident Matthew Glover asked Shelby what would be the problem with another $1 trillion debt from Obama’s stimulus package.
“He said some stuff about dividends ... but he never really answered my question,” Glover said.
Another local resident asked Shelby if there was any truth to a rumor that appeared during the presidential campaign concerning Obama’s U.S. citizenship, or lack thereof.
“Well his father was Kenyan and they said he was born in Hawaii, but I haven’t seen any birth certificate,” Shelby said. “You have to be born in America to be president.”
According to the Associated Press, state officials in Hawaii checked health department records during the campaign and determined there was no doubt Obama was born in Hawaii.
The nonpartisan Web site Factcheck.org examined the original document and said it does have a raised seal and the usual evidence of a genuine document. In addition, Factcheck.org reproduced an announcement of Obama's birth, including his parents' address in Honolulu, that was published in the Honolulu Advertiser on Aug. 13, 1961.
Hanceville Mayor Kenneth Nail told Shelby he and other local mayors were concerned if municipalities would ever see any of the money in the stimulus package.
“Nobody has given the mayors a clear answer on how to get this money,” Nail said.
Shelby said the reason mayors are in the dark about the stimulus package is because most of Congress is in the dark as well.
“They don’t know what is in the bill yet,” he said. “No criteria has been set to distribute the money.”
Shelby noted that once he knew all the details, he would do everything he could to ensure Alabama and local municipalities get the stimulus money they deserve.
“Since you’re (taxpayers) going to be paying for it, I’ll make sure as much as I can that it’s fairly distributed,” Shelby said. “I don’t want to wake up and see it all go to New York and Chicago.”

Here is the email they sent out to refute the AD, it is from none other than Eric Cantor... what a charmer he is.

"In addition, President Obama should immediately disavow plans by some political groups who announced they will run attack ads against Republicans. Let us be clear: attack ads will not create jobs or help struggling families but will only serve to undermine our nation's desire for bipartisanship. Instead of thinking about winning at any cost, we should all be thinking about creating the jobs Americans need."
The "threat" Cantor is referring to is this reporting from Politico: "Pushing back against the unanimous House Republican vote against President Obama’s stimulus plan, the White House plans to release state-by-state job figures 'so we can put a number on what folks voted for an against,' an administration aide said."
They just keep spouting this Tax Cut nonsense, which we have seen does not work. It is what has gotten us into this mess we are in now. Pres. Obama had put in some of their ideas in the plan the house had put forward, yet it wasn't enough, they cried and whined and wanted more and more.
Well, they have just about shot themselves in the foot this time. I think maybe they have pushed it just a bit too far. But, who am I to say. We will see what happens when the bill comes back out of the senate.

So I made some calls and found a copy of Ann Coulter’s new book at a used bookstore here in town. I was happy to know that my dollars would not go to support her, but I am a bit worried about a book that ended up in a used bookstore two weeks after it was published. Now Margaret told me she probably couldn’t find a Coulter book new, used or otherwise where she lives, so I told her to relax. I’ll read it and give her (and all of you) a summary here. Sort of a my version of the old Cliffs Notes concept. Do they still have those?
When I’m done anyone wanting the book can send me their address and we can mail it around until everyone has read it. That way no one has to actually buy it firsthand.

Now right off the bat I am a bit disappointed because Ann’s having a law degree led me to believe that she would be able to write intelligently. Apparently she can’t. I know they say that when you write for the masses you should strive for an 8th grade level vocabulary, but Ann must have lowered the standards a bit realizing she would be writing exclusively for an audience of right-wing conservatives. It appears she choose to write at an obedience school level. And even then she barely gets a passing grade in my book. Here is an example:
“Today there are more men who are sexually aroused by women in stiletto heels crushing live frogs to death while talking erotically to the frog than there are members of the Ku Klux Klan.”
As you can see, she has quite a funny take on it. But then they both have a funny take on life in general and Republicans especially...The post before this one was, Apparently Ann Coulters Feet Are As Big As An Emus. It was hilarious.

Now I know you think I am exaggerating or otherwise misrepresenting Ann’s words but honestly the woman really is an amazing yarn teller. She suggests the O.J. verdict is proof that racism doesn’t exist and Barack Obama was race-baiting when he referred to himself as black because he should have described himself as ”half white”.
Really. You can’t make this stuff up - unless you are Ann Coulter. My favorite part is when she claims “the poor” are actually counterfeit victims. That’s right folks - George Bush and Tom Delay can be victims but a poor person is either lying about being poor or deserves to be poor. Well I am glad Ms. Coulter has lots of money because when you are poor it is hard to afford designer shoes in a size 17ww. By the way, for some unknown reason Ann likes to put lots of individual words in quotations like “poor” and “racism” to suggest that those concepts really don’t exist. It’s an awkward writing style and kind of bothered me as a reader, but maybe Ann is just “smarter” than I am.
That sounds just like Ann Coulter. She has always seen herself as a victim, but not anyone else and she continues that thought in her book it seems like as Helen notes in her post, Ann says the only victims are
”George Bush, the duke Lacrosse players, Joe McCarthy, Jesse Helms, Tom Delay, the Swift Boat Veterans, and Sarah Palin.
But, check it out... they are great. Each of these ladies have such a unique way of putting things and even though they are not young they must be very young at heart. I love reading them. I am sure after reading a couple you will too.

I've been talking to some of Alaska's anonymous, pseudonymous and non-anonymous bloggers over the weekend about Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin's charmless offensive against an opponent that pretty much is either a figment of her imagination, or well, or, she has just plain intentionally "made up." - the "anonymous bloggers."
Palin has occasionally described them as pajama-clad basement denizens, who feed information to the media, who then treat phony information in such a way that it is raised somehow to the level of authenticity, and then becomes something treated as a fully vetted story. I only know of one main national figure who built a career out of doing just what Palin describes - Matt Drudge, of the Drudge Report.

To me, from the beginning of her "elevation," the story has always been that Sarah Palin is one of the most unqualified people in recent U.S. history to be a vice president or president. One didn't have to delve into family gossip and so on to help prove the case. It was all out there in her record as politician, administrator and "community organizer." From the beginning, most of us in our small online community realized that Alaska bloggers could help clarify Sarah Palin to the large bloc of uncommitted voters best, by assisting the large number of Outside reporters who would descend on our state.
From there you can see, someone who knows Gov. Palin very well and can tell you exactly how she is. Phil has written about her a number of times as have the others I mentioned. When you check Phil's site be sure to check the other chapters of Sarah's book. You won't be disappointed.
I see so much parallel between her and George Bush, from their time in office, to their intellectual level. However, I think maybe George may be a little smarter than she is, she has more of a stage presence than George ever had. Therefore her commanding presence at the Republican Convention and her drawing of record crowds during the campaign cycle.

We need to be afraid of her. She has a large number of supporters. They have started campaigning for her already. They have managed to make CNN remove her name from their list of unethical politicians. Now Team Sarah has complained to the FCC about David Letterman because they feel like he insulted her. Because he and Paul made a joke about her. It was ok for Rich Lowry to say she turned him on when she winked at him and only him in the debates, and he was all over his sofa...but Dave can't make a joke about her being attractive. What happened to the "Coldest state with the hottest Governor" slogan that used to be around?? Thanks to Team Sarah those words may get you in trouble.
I hope you don't mind these, and take the time to check it out. This will be something to watch for in a couple of years. I think she is getting ready to run in 2012 for president. She got a taste of National attention and she will be back for more...well she has never left really...but if we thought George was bad...look out world..Here comes Sarah!!!!
The GOP is wondering why they are losing member's, they are wondering why they are losing election's, they are trying to figure out what to do in order to change direction of their party.
During the campaign this year there were several instances of this we saw. High ups in the GOP saying something totally off the wall about Barack Obama being African American. Did they think no one knew that? Was that the problem? Then there was the scare tactics. He is going to do something awful, he is a Muslim, he isn't like the rest of us, he isn't a citizen, he wasn't born in the USA, oh the list could go on and on. It is still happening.
There are still lawsuits trying to prove he isn't a citizen, that he wasn't born in the USA, that he doesn't have a birth certificate. I even had someone in my family tell me that on Christmas Day. I couldn't believe it. Not sure why, but it just blew my mind. I told him what I could, and he said oh ok but I am sure I didn't convince him of anything. I also told him I was going to call him a right wing nut job...lol and he didn't like that.
Even now, they are still working to try to do something, I am not real sure what they hope to accomplish, stop him from taking office or something, do the election over. What, put in Sarah Palin? God forbid. We would really be in trouble then. Even if somehow they could do something unprecedented, like getting him disqualified, Joe Biden would take over, for the short amount of time it would take to get this stopped and then it would just continue with PE Obama's policies going forward, so what did they really accomplish??
Furthermore, WHY?? Why are they doing this? What benefit are they getting from trying to prove something that they can't prove? Sean Hannity, Rush Limbaugh, Ann Coulter, Dick Morris, Philip J. Berg, Leo Donofrio, and Andy Martin have all tried in differing ways to denounce, deny and basically destroy PE Obama. From lies in the media to filing lawsuits saying he is not a natural born citizen, to even trying to get his birth certificate in Hawaii, they have been almost relentless.
As, I asked, why?? Because he is different, because he is a Democrat. Because he is not one of them. Because as he said he doesn't look like all the other presidents we have had. He doesn't fit the stereotype. Because they are afraid, because he might succeed, because he might turn our country in a different direction. Because we are sure not headed in the right direction now.
So, we are just a few days away now from the election being certified. The electoral college will go in front of the senate, the votes will be cast, the inauguration will be held on the 20th of January and that will be the beginning of a new presidency. So, then what next for all the right wing nuts. Will they stop??
No, I don't think so. From what I have been seeing and hearing, they are just shifting focus. Some of them still have lawsuits pending. The ones who don't are now just moving their focus to the stimulus package PE Obama and VPE Biden are trying to put together. They are trying to re-write history again. Saying that FDR was a failure, he didn't bring us out of the Depression. So, therefore nothing that PEBO would do along those same lines will help now. It is too big, we can't spend that much money, the deficit is already too big.
But you know, I have to wonder where all these budget watchers were the last 8 years. No one seemed to mind when Bush and the Republicans were running up the deficit. They spent like drunken sailors and it sure didn't seem like Hannity and Limbaugh minded then.
Of course, that was when Bush was cutting their taxes at the same time, to help them out and make sure they could afford to put more money in the bank. Now, it's time to help us little people out, the middle class, the lower class, so the outrage is there.
Well, guess what guys. Go back to your corners. We will let you know when we want to hear from you again. Because right now, we don't. So, sit down, shut up and let the smart people talk a while.
