According to TVNewser, Beck advertisers Proctor and Gamble, Lawyers.com and Progressive Insurance have all pulled their ads from Beck's 5PM ET show. This comes in the wake of groups like ColorOfChange.org's efforts to get companies to distance themselves from Beck.
Now, if you haven't seen his latest, you need to know he still hasn't learned his lesson and is still spewing his hatred. Today, he had someone sitting with him, pretending to be Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi, and then pretended to poison them. Yes, he was saying he would like to kill the Speaker of the House.
I just believe that is over the top and I would think that would constitute a threat and should be against the law. Maybe I am wrong. Watch this here:
This man is just about as low as it gets. Some say this is all an act, I am not sure if it is or not..but if it is..he is damn good and needs to win an Oscar for sure.
Jon Stewart shows just how hypocritical the Fox News Pundits and the GOPers are with their blasting of Pres. Clinton and Pres. Obama and Sec. Clinton over the trip to North Korea.
No matter what, they (Fox) see ulterior motives, they see dark clouds and they see something sinister. But, Jon can say it much better than I can so just watch and see how he takes them on..
I found this very interesting video at The Immoral Minority, and just had to swipe it. I really hope it goes viral because I think it really explains the essence of Sarah Palin.
I have always said, and will always say she is a manufactured person. This backs up my theory. She is what she needs to be in order to win. Just as George Bush was. George Bush became a "Texan" so he could win the Governorship and then he became President, and used the Crawford ranch as his base.
Sarah uses her "hockey mom" status the same way.. however it is an act. The people from Alaska who know her and will tell the truth say she isn't a hockey mom, she isn't even really a good mom. Her parents do more for the kids, because she is too busy furthering her career. The kids have been just another prop.
But, watch this, made in October 2008 and see these two gentlemen putting truth to the falsehood that is Sarah Palin.
When John Ensign called his parents and asked them to pay off his mistress and her family, he should have known there could be a problem. His parents were involved with casinos and gambling in Nevada and using any money from these concerns is strictly against gaming commission laws.
Now news is out that a new deal may be in trouble due to the pay off from Sen. Ensign's Father.
The Ensign affair has triggered complaints that the senator and his parents, Michael and Sharon Ensign, may have violated federal campaign law with the payments — made more than a year before the senator's affair became public knowledge.
"Right now, we're aware there's an investigation going," said Ed Van Petten, executive director of the Kansas Lottery. "If it is found that there was wrongdoing, that would have an effect on things" regarding the Sumner County casino proposal.
For now, Van Petten said, lottery officials are waiting to see the outcome of any federal investigations.
He said the lottery will also conduct its own investigation, regardless of whether criminal wrongdoing is found, to determine whether there are ethical or moral issues that could affect Michael Ensign's involvement in the casino.
If he doesn't pass that ethics test, the lottery could take action to make sure he is not directly involved in casino management or request that he withdraw from the project entirely, Van Petten said.
Michael Ensign was chairman and chief executive of the Mandalay Resort Group, which owned and operated Las Vegas' landmark Mandalay Bay Hotel and Casino.
According to a Washington Post report, he made about $130 million when he engineered Mandalay's sale to international casino giant MGM Mirage in 2005.
Michael Ensign rarely speaks to the media and could not be reached for this report.
Nancy Seitz, who has served as spokesperson for the Prairie Sky project, did not return phone calls seeking comment.
-snip-
On July 9, the senator confirmed that payments had been made by his parents to his ex-mistress and her family in April 2008, about the time they left the senator's employment.
Sen. Ensign's lawyer issued a statement saying that "after the senator told his parents about the affair, his parents decided to make the gifts out of concern for the well-being of long-time family friends during a difficult time."
"The gifts are consistent with a pattern of generosity by the Ensign family to the Hamptons and others," the statement said.
The statement also explained that the $96,000 went to the Hampton family as a bundle of $12,000 gifts from each of the Ensign parents to Cynthia and Doug Hampton and two of their children.
At the time, $12,000 was the maximum amount that could be given as a gift without triggering tax liabilities.
Citizens for Responsibility and Ethics in Washington, a nonprofit and nonpartisan watchdog group, filed a series of complaints with the Federal Election Commission, the Justice Department and the Senate Ethics Committee.
"It appears that Sen. Ensign's parents, Michael and Sharon Ensign, may have each given checks in the amount of $12,000 to Cindy Hampton as a severance payment for the loss of her positions as treasurer of both Ensign for Senate and the Battle Born Political Action Committee," the group's complaint said. "Those two checks may constitute illegal excessive in-kind contributions by the Ensigns to both Ensign for Senate and the Battle Born PAC."
The complaint by Citizens for Responsibility and Ethics in Washington contends that under federal campaign contribution limits, Michael and Sharon Ensign would have been allowed to give only a combined $9,600 to their son's campaign aide.
They also alleged that the senator broke the law by failing to disclose the payments on his campaign finance forms.
The Justice Department referred the watchdog group to the Federal Bureau of Investigation, and the group forwarded its complaint to the FBI on July 20.
Legislators concerned
Kansas lawmakers on both sides of the gambling issue said they are concerned about Michael Ensign's involvement in the payments.
Whether the payments were legal or not, "I'm not sure that would pass the ethics test," said state Rep. Vince Wetta, D-Wellington.
"The question is, are these the kind of people we want to do business with," he said.
Wetta won office on a pro-gambling platform and was a crucial vote for the 2007 bill that authorized casino-style gambling.
He also was instrumental in getting Sumner County included in the state law as a potential casino site.
Rep. Brenda Landwehr, R-Wichita, a strong opponent of gambling, said the Ensign issue is symptomatic of the kind of problems that come along with the industry.
"This is the thing we were talking about" in legislative debate, Landwehr said. "This just shows the state has no business in the gambling business, where there is so much corruption. Our state just does not have the capacity to monitor all this stuff."
Just as I said about the Palin matter, the fact he had an affair is his and his wife's concern... that doesn't really matter to me. But the fact that he might have broken the law, that his parents helped him break the law, that these people just think they can use money to get out of anything they want and go on their merry way is what bothers me.
There was a complaint filed with CREW (Citizens for Responsibility and Ethics in Washington), who then turned it over to the FBI for completion. Now, we wait. However the casinos in Kansas have a deadline of August 28th to make a decision and they can't wait forever.
So the fallout continues from the Ensign mess. He is a hypocrite, and may be a criminal. Stay tuned.. it looks like a bumpy ride...lol
Once again, the attorney for Sarah Palin has threatened a private citizen. This guy is getting quite a reputation for this. He and Palin, I guess, make the threats, then realize there really isn't anything they can do about it and back off.
After reporting on several rumors and saying there were sources that wished to remain anonymous, Gryphen at the Immoral Minority received a threat through e-mail and the pages of the Alaska Report.
However, it was the way they did it that made it even worse. You see, little information about Gryphen was ever known as he wished it to be. But, they found out he was a part time teacher of Kindergarten and threatened to serve the papers and basically attack him there.
If you haven't read or heard the rumors that Gryphen wrote about you can check them out by going to his blog here. There was more than just the separation of the former Governor and her husband. That is something I don't think should be talked about. That is private and needs to be left alone.
However some of the other things are valid to be discussed and were never mentioned in any rebuttals by anyone. My problem is with the attorney and Mrs. Palin thinking they can just threaten people and get by with it. That's just not right.
It is typical though of the right wingers anymore.. Fear tactics, just as they are using in the Health Care reforms and just as they used in the run up to the Iraq War. Everything is Fear Tactics.
This is the 4th time they have used threats to try to get someone to back off a story. On Nov. 5th 2008 after returning home from the loss of the election Sarah Palin stopped and made a statement about being tough and getting over hurt feelings. However she has yet to learn how to do just that.
As I was perusing the web this morning I stumbled across a story at Alternet and then followed it back to the source at WorldNetDaily. And no I won't link you to it...That is a punishment I won't wish on anyone.. If you really want to find it..you can either search for it or you already have the address.
But it was a piece written by none other than Pat Boone..remember him..
Here is a tribute to him I found on the YouTubes:
Anyway...to go on with my point.. This piece by him is about "The Waterboarding of America" as he titles it. This is what he has to say:
It's a harmless-sounding word in itself. Until a couple of years ago, "waterboarding" sounded like some kind of fun at the beach.
But after 9/11, after American and allied forces invaded Iraq and made incursions into Afghanistan hunting for Osama bin Laden, and after our homeland intelligence apprehended and arrested known and suspected jihadist terrorists bent on killing more Americans, the word took on a more ominous meaning. Thanks to much media exploitation, politically motivated accusations, certain criminally leaked classified information and of course some actual facts, the word "waterboarding" became synonymous with heinous, barbaric torture.
Since America became a nation, torture has never been identified with our policy or procedure. Investigative techniques and interrogation, yes, but always within humane limits – never the torture racks, lashings, beatings, burnings, nail-pullings, starvation, or sadistic mutilation practiced by so many other cultures and adversaries. We've expected our military to extract and obtain essential information through intelligent, often covert, sometimes even psychological means.
What happened? Something almost unprecedented. We were completely blindsided, attacked on our own soil, in our own airplanes and towers, and even in the Pentagon, in broad daylight. It was devastating, and after the first shock, it was obvious that if we did not act quickly and with almost no thought of normal restraint, it would happen again, and even more violently, and with even more catastrophic results.
We were at war, against an enemy with absolutely no moral compunction and with a demonic bloodlust to destroy us, our homes and families and way of life – and with even a religious desire to die while destroying us! It was a relentless waking nightmare, and it was real.
Those charged with the responsibility to protect this country – the president, the administration, the military, our intelligence agencies – quickly mobilized to do anything and everything possible to avert the next attacks. As captives were taken, they were subjected to every method of interrogation we'd ever tried, and because of the extreme urgency and unimaginable danger, when captives wouldn't divulge information that would save American lives, in some instances some interrogators went further than they had before.
They didn't kill, they didn't maim, they didn't inflict permanent injury, but they sure made the captive feel as if he were about to drown. They tied him down inclined, head a bit lower than feet, covered his face with towels, poured water on and through the towels and into his face, sometimes in his nostrils, and let him know this frightening and extremely uncomfortable experience could end if he would tell what he knew about the plans to wreak more devastation and kill more Americans. This procedure, unsettling as it is, came to be known worldwide as "waterboarding."
It came to be known worldwide because liberal media, abetted by a few political and military figures who didn't seem to grasp the urgency of stopping the maniacal plots against innocent civilians, revealed classified information and screamed "TORTURE!" Having no clue about how to get to the essential information some other way, but perhaps imagining themselves in the position of the captive, they just condemned those who were actually getting the job done at least in part.
Almost ignored in all the anti-American clamor was the fact that Khalid Sheikh Mohammed, confessed mastermind of the World Trade Center carnage, as a result of being "waterboarded" 130 times – with no lasting damage at all – finally divulged information that thwarted the destruction of the Brooklyn Bridge and saved an estimated 10,000 innocent lives! So the technique, harsh as it is, proved effective.
And now, whether expressly intended or not, America is being waterboarded!
The nation – its economy and political body – has been strapped down, blindfolded and hosed. A new administration, empowered by control of both houses of Congress and the most liberal president in history, is immersing us all in a torrent of debt. While we gasp for breath and try to cry "Time out!" we continue to be flooded with staggering commitments neither we nor our children have approved or will be able to fulfill.
New thousand-page bills and proposed expenditures are rushed together and dumped on beleaguered senators and representatives, proposing trillions of dollars of new taxpayer debt – and Pelosi, Reed, Waxman and the president's team demand approval overnight, without time to even read the bills!
And menacingly, chief of staff waterboarder Rahm Emanuel actually says "… we can't afford to waste a crisis; it gives us a chance to push through initiatives we couldn't get otherwise." How blatant can you get?
The American people have long opposed abortion, same sex "marriage," universal, socialistic health care and a host of other ultraliberal causes; current polls confirm we still do. But the waterboarding began, literally, within the first three days of this new administration. With no instigation from Congress, the freshman president picked up his new hose of authority and, by executive order, overturned the long-standing Reagan-era regulations prohibiting foreign aid going to organizations that finance overseas abortions – and handed international Planned Parenthood, chief provider of abortions worldwide, 200 million taxpayer dollars!
And now, while we're strapped down by the Democrat-controlled Congress, gasping and gulping beneath a flood of strong-arm tactics, the "health reform" bill taking shape outlines a "minimum-benefits package" that will be universal – that is, required of every American's insurance plan, whether provided by a private firm or by the government.
Cunningly, abortion isn't specifically mentioned, but will be decided by a "Health Benefits Advisory Committee," handpicked by the president and his HHS Secretary Kathleen Sibelius, who already has a record while governor of Kansas supporting late-term abortions! See how this "taking advantage of a crisis" thing works?
But we're not helpless yet, folks. We're drenched and near-drowned and gasping for breath, but there's a growing coalition of staunch Republican and "blue dog" Democrats in both houses of Congress digging in their heels and saying, "Wait! This is all too much, too fast! We need time to read and digest and consider this torrent of legislation. Mr. President, hold off!"
And that gives us debt-soaked citizens a chance to rise up and gasp and spit and shout: "MR. PRESIDENT, AND YOU, TOO, CONGRESS! YOU WORK FOR US! NOT THE OTHER WAY AROUND! WE VOTED YOU IN! AND WE CAN TAKE YOU OUT! STOP THIS WATERBOARDING!!"
The link in the middle is to a petition they want people to sign. Of course it is on WND's site.. and the emphasis is mine. I love how we WERE at war.. like they are over now.
I have seen this before lately.. this phrasing of the wars being over and in the past. They use this to justify torture, the spending during the 8 years of the Bush misadministration and anytime they want to put down Pres. Obama.
I had read the other day that Pat was also one of the "Birthers" now.. so this just makes perfect sense for him to publish his screed on WND. This is where all the wing nuts go to rant. He cites several off the wall claims to back up his "proof" that he needs to "see" the president's birth certificate so he will know he was born in the US.
-snip-
has been circulating for months, since before he won the election last November. He, or somebody in his confidence, posted a supposed copy of a Hawaiian "Certification of Live Birth," or COLB, on his presidential campaign Web site — even though a COLB, under Hawaiian rules, does not necessarily prove in-state birth. Some found the document, which does not list the hospital of birth or attending physician, to be fake.
Since then, a widely known and experienced investigator, Dr. Jerome Corsi, flew to Kenya in search of a certificate of birth he had reason to believe existed there. But he was detained and stonewalled by Kenyan officials. He couldn’t obtain confirmation — but received no denial. He was just ordered to leave the country.
During that same time, some reported seeing a videotaped proclamation by his paternal step-grandmother that she was in the delivery room and saw Barack H. Obama born in Mombasa, in what is now Kenya!
Because of the furor and allegations, and because candidate Obama wouldn’t or couldn’t produce a valid U.S. birth certificate, an official or two were dispatched from Washington to see if one existed in Hawaii. After a brief huddled conference with a local data and statistic keeper, from which no press statements were released, there was a brief and quiet announcement that the matter was “resolved.” What does that mean?
Many, who know more than I do about what actually happened, notably the United States Justice Foundation, have surmised that baby Obama’s mother, about to have her child in Kenya, had booked a flight to Hawaii but was prohibited from flying because delivery was so imminent. But soon after baby Barack was born, USJF theorizes she flew with him to Oahu and obtained some kind of "record of birth" as if he'd been born there.
This was from a piece I found at Newsmax.com dated June 29,2009 named "Mr. Obama, Show Us Your Birth Certificate" again written by Mr. Boone..If you want to read the rest of it.. there it is.. but most of it is just the same discredited garbage we have seen before.
Pat Boone is just the latest in a line of idiots that are coming out of the woodwork who are one of the so called religious right who can't stand the fact there is a black man in the White House and his policies and his popularity is greater than theirs.
That is the entire thing in a nut shell. It ties in with the rants of Glenn Beck, Sean Hannity, Rush Limbaugh and others we have heard. It even fits with the majority of the rethuglicans in Congress.
We have to stand up to these idiots and start really calling them out and not letting them get by with this. Bill Maher said it best this week when he wrote this week in the LA Times and on his New Rules about letting them get by with it. He compared them to the Whitewater of the Clinton years and the Swiftboaters of Kerry. We can't just ignore them and expect them to go away.. they aren't.
The Op-Ed is great and should be read. I don't always agree with everything Bill says but he is spot on with this one.
Think about it.. and sorry for this being so long. There is just a lot of stuff I had to get in here.. Hope you will pass this along and help get this message out there. We have to stop these people. They are more prevalent than you think. Way more.
Good news about the economy this week and the president wants to talk about it. This is great. We have made some steps in the right direction and must keep our eyes on the ball.
The President discusses the state of the economy amidst positive signs from the GDP. Making clear that this is little comfort to those struggling, he notes that we appear to have averted an even worse disaster and offers hope for the time ahead.
