President Obama at Camp LeJeune, NC on With drawl From Iraq

President Obama's speech on the with drawl of troops from Iraq. Of course he is getting all kinds of push back from everywhere on this. His time line is off. He is leaving too many troops, he is not leaving enough. They will be there too long, not long enough.

Whatever... He said from what I remember, and I am not going to look it up.. that he would bring the troops home with as much care and diligence as there was recklessness going in. He also said all along that it would be 16 months depending on conditions and the commanders and boots on the ground.

Anyway.. here is his speech..

It was an awesome speech and it seemed to be well received by the Marines who were there.

I am glad he is studying the situation and making decisions based on facts. I might wish we could leave earlier, but I certainly don't have all the facts. Facts were ignored for 8-yrs. We need to do this right.

I agree D.K.... we have to do it right, I too wish we could leave earlier..however I am still of the mind that if we hadn't went there we wouldn't be in the position of leaving in the first place.

We have to do it right as you said so in order to do that, we have to have all the facts and that is something he has. At least I hope he has the facts and not what they are just wanting him to have. That's my worry.

I have been communicating with Bob Fertik and it seems there is some dissension in the ranks so to speak... we need to watch it closely.

While receiving a dose of criticism from progressives for his Iraq policy, the new president should nonetheless get some kudos for his unilateral troop withdrawal from another devastated, corrupt, seemingly ungovernable region that occurred this morning, albeit with little fanfare.

Yes, like Iraq, President Obama had the resolve not to abandon New Orleans, or worse yet, go with the original Biden plan of partitioning the city into autonomous enclaves run by Crips, Fortunetellers, Latin Kings, Vampires, Bloods, Goths, and cajuns. Had the new President simply acquiesced to political pragmatism, the Big Easy almost certainly would not have healed to once again shine as the gem of the deep south. . .

great post...and yeah there are progressive yelling it is not good enough...my gut says that there are things we don't know...and that he has to announce it this way..but I also think if it goes well...or smoothly we will see troops come out faster....he is being careful....let's be real we are still hated around the world- thanks to bushco....so we will see how it goes- the bottemline the troops were thrilled- and so animated and happy in that video- and nice to see them crowd around him....they trust him...
