Well, even though he was totally wrong about all his facts, he says he has a following. Maybe he does. As long as he is surrounded by people on the trading floor and they have to answer to him, and support what he is saying.
But, if he had really read the plan as it was proposed, and realized that it was not a reward for bad behaviour and not going to bail out the speculators and the ones who were flipping houses and lieing on their applications as he said, maybe he might have a leg to stand on.
This morning, I was reading over at Bob Cesca's GDAB and noticed a link to PoliticalCarnival. So I clicked over and was reading some of the posts there. Well, guess what I found. I found where someone had discovered that Santelli's rant was scripted and he had been outed.
It was posted to twitter by someone and here it is:
@Meryl333 the Santelli rant was totally scripted Meryl and the reaction on Internet press and twitter exactly what CNBC wanted. Cramer 2
about 11 hours ago from Tweetie in reply to Meryl333
I have hammered Chris Matthews lately about his treatment of Pres. Obama but at least he did point out that Santelli was off in his rant on this matter. He questioned his motives and then questioned his politics. Santelli admitted that he was a Republican and voted for McCain.
There was also an interview of Santelli by Brian Williams, Matt Lauer and Steve Liesman talked to him about his rant.. watch it below:

He shows his ignorance and his selfishness. It's all about him and no one else.. typical rethuglican ignorance and it's ok if it is us doing it not you.

first it was so obviously planned. CNBC would not let something like that be random
second where is his rant about the bankers and auto makers -- where is his rant about ag subsidies, where is his rant about OUR TAX dollars paying for this illegal and immoral war
santelli is a douchebag - and the more he goes around talking about this fake rant, the more people realize it
I agree.. I thought that from the get go that it was scripted and when he admitted he voted for McCant.. that did it for me.. then when he was talking to Leisman and all, he couldn't keep it together just kept ranting about nothing.. has no idea what he is talking about.
The problem with this plan is that it is going to tear apart the American social contract. Santelli may have been ranting, but he is expressing a feeling that is growing among people with mortgages.
Up until now our national debate about redistribution of wealth or progressive taxation has been done at the abstract level. Only wonks talk about marginal tax rates and income tax payments per income strata. The debate largely involved mythical rich people not paying their taxes or welfare mothers having more kids to collect more assistance. Even if these people did exist, unless you are very rich or very poor you do not live near them. They are caricatures of people at the extremes of the income continuum.
This program is going to bring wealth redistribution from the abstract and make it real individual neighborhoods all over this country.
The 92% of American's who are paying their mortgage on time will go online, look at the county property records, see their neighbors getting loan mods for which they do not qualify. Whether it's paid for by tax dollars, borrowed money or government regulation it is not going to matter to most Americans. They won't use terms like redistribtion or progressive or administrative law.
The majority will simply see someone getting a benefit from government action unavailable to them. And it won't be a CEO or welfare mom, it will be their neighbor.
The moral imperative that drives people to work hard to pay their mortgage will be undermined. People will begin to wonder if they should try to game the system and get help like their neighbor.
