Memorial Day, Please Remember the Fallen Heroes

Today is the day we honor the fallen heroes of our wars. It has been morphed into honoring all dead, but the historical accuracy is that it is to honor the members of the military that have given the ultimate sacrifice.

I have to say, I don't like war, however, this isn't about war, it is about the men and women who have chosen to fight. Some voluntarily, some drafted. All heroes.

Here is a video I received from Military for Obama. It is of a 3rd grade class and it is beautiful.

Here is the statement which accompanied the email I got.

A third grade teacher, from Tussing Elementary in Colonial Heights,
Virginia, wrote this song and taught it to her third-grade students and now
it is on you tube! At the end of the song you can even order the sheet
music! I hope this sweeps our Country and gets sung in all our schools!

Here is the video.

I hope you take a moment and remember the sacrifice of these heroes. If you are going to a cemetery to lay flowers on someone's grave.. take an extra to put on a military grave site. Even if you don't know them.. HONOR THEM.

The President's Weekly Address: Honoring the Fallen

From the White House blog:

Ahead of Memorial Day, the President asks all Americans to join him in remembering and honoring our men and women in uniform who have died in service to the country.

No matter how you feel about war, please take the time to honor the fallen warriors.

President's Weekly Address: Tragedy at Fort Hood

From the White House web site:

The President condemns the "despicable" attacks at Fort Hood, honoring those who were killed and injured. He also commends those who stood up to help and console those affected: "even as we saw the worst of human nature on full display, we also saw the best of America."

This was a terrible tragedy, yet as the President said we did see the worst and the best of our people as it seems we always do. Even as one person was trying to take so many lives there were others who were working to stop him and help the wounded in any way they could. That's the America I know and love, color, race, sex, nor any differences means nothing, we are all American's and we all are in need and we work together to help each other... That's what the Republican's seem to forget.

Here is the President.

Sorry I am late posting this, Mom had surgery on her shoulder yesterday and she is in a lot of pain.. it's been hard on all of us dealing with it and her.. She is very resistant to calling the doctor and getting any other help.. but I think that is the next step. Prayers and thoughts would be most welcome.

Presidents Weekly Address

This is Memorial Day. Time for us to reflect, remember and honor our veteran and our service men and women.

The President reminds us of this and lets us know that we have a duty too. Take the time to honor some of the men and women at least this weekend.

I found a group if you are interested in joining. They are called eMail Our Military. You can sign up on their site to write to a service member and help support them while they are gone from home. They have a form you fill out on line, then you mail it in with a $2.00 processing fee. That's just to weed out scammers, then you are package with further instructions. It sounds complicated, but remember they are protecting you and the service member both.

It is a worthy cause, and it can be great for both of you. You can email or write either one. Think about it anyway. Just another way to honor our military and support them. We do have service members who have no real family and they have no home support.

Here is Our President, I am so glad we have him. He still makes me proud I voted for him.

To Honor Our Military

I just want to say Thank You, and Honor Our Military, for their bravery, their service, their sacrifice and their above and beyond giving of their lives and their families too. What they do for us can never be repaid and Thank You will never be enough.
