This is a wonderful discussion with 4 people discussing torture. Two from the left, supposedly, however Erica from the Center for American Progress is more center I think, and then two from the right.
David is very good and has his facts and points down very well. He can hold his own and is very strong. One of the best I have ever seen, why don't we see him MORE.
Watch this and tell me why we don't see his face on TeeVee all the time. He should be out there arguing these points everyday.. I would start a collection to help pay him and help get the word around that the subject needs to be changed in the media.
As I was saying and as he pointed out. The media needs someone to help them change the subject. The pictures are just a distraction, as is Nancy Pelosi. That's what Pres. Obama was trying to say the other day and what I have been saying.
The big story that everyone missed last week was that Cheney was ordering torture to get his link from 9-11 to Iraq.
Instead of focusing on that, people are angry over stupid pictures we have already seen enough of, and of what Nancy knew and when she knew it.
Don't get distracted, focus... Pay attention to the Big Picture and quit looking at the shiny object the Republicans are throwing out there...

This is One of the Stupidest Things I Have Heard Lately
I have heard this stupidity before, but it still causes me to shake my head every time I hear it. Even though they are supposed to be teaching and promoting gun safety and good gun ownership, all they are doing is fanning the flames of anarchy and hysteria.
They keep pushing the idea, albeit covertly that Pres. Obama will be taking their guns away.
Guess who is helping to lead this charge over the weekend...well the NRA convention is in his backyard so Sen. John McCain dropped in to help out, along with Michael Steele.
First watch this little video, from Think Progress, then we will have some statements.
Part of McCain's statement to the NRA this weekend,
But, what he didn't say nor did anyone remind him or anyone at the NRA to the thunderous applause he got, nor was it pointed out last year on the campaign trail, that he held a different view in 2001. Here is his statement and his stance then:
But, why confuse anyone with facts, when the politics would just get in the way. It is so much easier to paint things in black and white and make Pres. Obama look bad, and try to make it look like he is trying to take away all guns instead of just enforcing current legislation and making common sense assault weapons bans.
Of course, Michael Steele, was the exact same way. He held the same views as Pres. Obama, until it was fashionable to hold differing views. But again, why should we confuse anyone with the facts.
Think Progress has the entire story at their blog, and you can check it out there. It is just amazing to me that people are so gullable they believe all this without checking into it and can't remember from one time to another what these people say.
Pres. Obama has been consistent with his views and his statements. Yet, he is trying to take their guns away, or that is their belief. It is stupidity on their part, and I do mean STUPIDITY. No other words for it.
Want me to repeat it.. I will be glad to.. YOU ARE STUPID!

First watch this little video, from Think Progress, then we will have some statements.
Part of McCain's statement to the NRA this weekend,
"We can and should do more to crack down on the illegal transfer to Mexico of weapons acquired in the United States, which is a violation of both U.S. and Mexican law. But that doesn’t require us to restrict the rights of law-abiding American gun owners," McCain said to applause at the NRA's 138th annual meeting at U.S. Airways Center in downtown Phoenix. "Again, the United States must do all it can to assist (Mexican) President (Felipe) Calderon in his war against the drug cartels. And I know the NRA will continue to work with the Administration, Congress, and the states to prevent flow of illegal weapons into Mexico by continuing to promote legal gun ownership and sales in the United States while fighting against any limitation on Americans’ Second Amendment rights."
But, what he didn't say nor did anyone remind him or anyone at the NRA to the thunderous applause he got, nor was it pointed out last year on the campaign trail, that he held a different view in 2001. Here is his statement and his stance then:
In 2001, Sen. John McCain, R-Ariz., rattled the gun-rights lobby by collaborating with Sen. Joe Lieberman, then-D-Conn., on a bill to eliminate the so-called Brady law “loophole” that allows gun sales at shows without background checks.
“Criminals and gun traffickers have figured this out,” McCain said in a May 15, 2001, Senate floor speech announcing the ultimately unsuccessful measure. “Gun shows are the second leading source of illegal guns recovered in gun trafficking investigations. According to a recent report by Americans for Gun Safety, ‘the states that do not require background checks at gun shows are flooding the rest of the nation with crime guns.’ While 95 percent of buyers are cleared within two hours, the 5 percent who are not are 20 times more likely to be a prohibited purchaser. Background checks are an essential part of keeping guns from criminals and other prohibited individuals.”
But, why confuse anyone with facts, when the politics would just get in the way. It is so much easier to paint things in black and white and make Pres. Obama look bad, and try to make it look like he is trying to take away all guns instead of just enforcing current legislation and making common sense assault weapons bans.

Announcing the Silly Git Heads on Pikes Awards
Awarded to worthy persons whom Silly Git would most like to see their heads removed and placed on pikes in the D.C. Mall as a warning to other aspiring crooks and outlaws.
Tonight's Award winners are Richard 'little Dicky' Cheney and Donald 'Unknown Unknowns' Rumsfeld.
Rumsfeld can best be described as a arrogant prick asshole. He always knows more about any topic even when he knows nothing about the topic. Experts are to be ignored. Thinks beating prisoners to death is an acceptable policy. This man is a war criminal and his head belongs on a pike.
Cheney shoots his friends in the face for recreation. Cheney lies at every opportunity and goes way out of his way to create more opportunities to lie. He tells us that he thinks that torture is a valid interrogation technique while he knows that torture was used to extract false testimony from the unfortunates that fell into his clutches. This man is completely reprehensible, is a war criminal, and his head belongs on a pike.
So, there you have it.. check him out and see what you think.. He is just starting but I am sure he will have a lot of things going on in the next few days.

More Back up for Nancy Pelosi, Ron Wyden Agrees With Her
Here is video of Sen. Ron Wyden, (D,OR), saying that Nancy Pelosi is correct.
Now, that is 2 members of the Senate Intelligence Committee backing up her statement that the CIA and the Bush Mis-Administration misled Congress during the briefings.
Watch this and see,
Also, Sen. Richard Shelby, (R,AL), when he was asked about it couldn't say that he had been told either. In other words he didn't lie and say yes, he was told about water boarding. Here is his statement,
H/T to GottaLaff for this, she got it from TheHill web site. After they asked Sen. Shelby about his remembrance of the briefings. As I said it is worth noting he didn't say they were told the were being used, just as Nancy Pelosi said.
So, now we have 2 Democratic Congress members and a Republican backing her up. What more do we need?
She has also stated we need to have hearings. I agree, lets have hearings, get all the information out there. Republicans, do you really want that? Get it all out in the open and let's investigate it all. If heads roll, they roll, no matter whose heads they are, let the chips fall where they may.
Top to bottom, bottom to top. But, lets get it done.

“As Vice Chairman of the Senate Select Committee on Intelligence in 2002, Senator Shelby was briefed by the CIA on the Agency’s interrogation program and the existence of Enhanced Interrogation Techniques (EITs). To his recollection, not only did the CIA briefers provide what was purported to be a full account of the techniques, they also described the need for these techniques and the value of the information being obtained from terrorists during questioning. The Senate briefing also included an explanation of how these techniques were consistent with the law and with the national security interests of the U.S. To his recollection, while there was a great deal of discussion, there were no objections raised during the Senate briefing he attended.”
This is very carefully worded. It says Shelby was told about the “existence” of the techniques and given a “full account” of their existence. This doesn’t address whether they were used. He was also told about the “value of the information being obtained from terrorists during questioning,” but the statement conspicuously doesn’t say the info was obtained through the use of the techniques.

President Obama gives his weekly address
Pres. Obama gives his weekly address. This man is so reasoned, so well spoken. I listen to him talking and think about the loud talkers on the other side, railing against him.
Glen Beck, Sean Hannity, Rush Limbaugh, just to name the 3 off the top of my head, how they scream and yell about how he is tearing the country apart. And that is what they do, they scream and they yell. They scream and they yell.. yet I have never heard Pres. nor Sen. Obama scream nor yell. He always speaks in a reasoned, well modulated voice.
Even the few times he has been angry, he never screamed, he never yelled, he was well modulated, he was controlled. But they are just over the top, screaming all the time.
Just something I thought about... He is talking about bringing all sides together for the good of all of us again, for health care, for energy. How is this well reasoned man, who tries to bring all sides together tearing this country apart.
This is why he is trying to stay above the fray in the torture investigations. He is wanting to carry on business as usual and let Congress and the Attorney General do their jobs. Which is what it should be.
So, let the President do his job, and ask Congress and the AG do theirs.
Here is your President.

Why aren't the Media Talking about the Murders?
There were murders committed, so why are the media not talking about that?
No, they would rather talk about what Nancy Pelosi knew and when she knew it. How ignorant. As Bob Cesca says.. Loud Voices and Shiny Objects.. the media sees things like Nancy Pelosi and grabs it..
Human Rights Investigator, Attorney John Sifton was on Democracy Now with Amy Goodman talking about the murders and torture deaths of at least 100 detainees and prisoners during the reign of terror of the Bush Mis-Administration.
Here is the conversation they had.
He has also written an article and posted it in The Daily Beast. Gee, wonder why Tina Brown didn't mention it on her weekly walk through with the Joke and Mika. Tina goes on there and they kissy, kissy every few days.. but she never challenges anything Joke says.
You can find, John Sifton's article, under the heading The Bush Administration Homicides.
That's just the headlines of the article. There is a lot more. Quite an interesting read and I would say a must read.
These are the things I think we should be talking about. Pictures that may or may not need to come out, why do we need to see more? Haven't we seen enough already?
We know what they look like, just investigate. Why do we need to see them, just get your letters off to congress and get these things investigated and get the charges filed. I don't need to see another picture to know what was done.

• An estimated 100 detainees have died during interrogations, some who were clearly tortured to death.
• The Bush Justice Department failed to investigate and prosecute alleged murders even when the CIA inspector general referred a case.
• Sifton’s request for specific information on cases was rebuffed by the Bush Justice Department, though it was “familiar with the cases.”
• Attorney General Eric Holder must now decide whether to investigate and prosecute homicides, not just cases of torture.

Lawrence O'Donnell Calls Out Morning Joke and Backs Up Nancy Pelosi
Watch this.. it is wonderful... I love Lawrence O'Donnell... He isn't afraid to call out the Joke.. I can't stand him.. he was relentless this morning going after Nancy Pelosi. Saying she lied, well, I don't think she has, she has been backed up by several others.
