Bill Maher Gives Us New Rules
Why is it that people like Bill Maher, Jon Stewart, and Stephen Colbert are the ones who are telling us what we need to hear and the so called Main stream Media are giving us things like "class warfare", "socialism vs free enterprise", "Mayor sends Watermelon greeting card".
Yes, those are some actual stories from MSNBC's web site. Then we have the stories you have seen here on my blog from Jon Stewart and Stephen Colbert. They have more often than not really hit the truth and nailed the feelings of everyday people, much more so than anything the media has ever done.
Well, last night we can add Bill Maher to that list. I won't say I agree with him all the time and I didn't see the show, so I don't know what all he said earlier. But this clip is certainly SPOT ON!!! Watch if you have not seen it and see what you think. BTW...it is not safe for work. But remember it is Bill Maher...lol
The snuggie is a little hard to take.. but other than that I have to agree with what he says..

Your President has Thrown the Gauntlet
Our President has thrown a gauntlet and is ready to take on anyone who is ready to fight with him over this budget. I believe he picked up a little fire while he was with the Marines yesterday...lol I like it. See what you think, and I will see you after.
He has given us a budget that is honest and is showing us what we haven't seen before. He is cutting things from it we don't need, that don't work, and that are not cost effective.
I know there are lots of waste in the medicare payments and such, I used to work with them and was constantly having to try to send money back to them. It was the hardest thing in the world to tell them they had overpaid me. Just in one instance, they overpaid me $75,000. I worked for 3 months to get it fixed. They wouldn't accept the payments telling me I was wrong. They paid my company and they paid the correct company.
Finally, after multiple paperwork transfers to them, I got it across to them they had sent me the wrong payment and they threatened to sue our company...lol This after I had been the one to bring it to their attention!! Anyway, we finally got it fixed. But, as I say, that was one instance. It happens ALL the time with medicare payments.
So, there you have it, waste and abuse of the Federal Dollar. Just like the President said. Stop this kind of thing and you can and will save money.
The Budget can be found here at the Office of Management and Budget web site. Peter Orzag is the OMB Director, and is a pretty cool dude, if I may say that.
I think for the most part this is great, I must admit I haven't read it all, but what I have looked at and what I have seen I like. Yes, it is a lot of money. But, really if you add the cost of the wars, disasters and other things that the former occupant didn't have in his budget, is this that much more than his was?? Or is it pretty much in line??
Just asking...

President Obama at Camp LeJeune, NC on With drawl From Iraq
President Obama's speech on the with drawl of troops from Iraq. Of course he is getting all kinds of push back from everywhere on this. His time line is off. He is leaving too many troops, he is not leaving enough. They will be there too long, not long enough.
Whatever... He said from what I remember, and I am not going to look it up.. that he would bring the troops home with as much care and diligence as there was recklessness going in. He also said all along that it would be 16 months depending on conditions and the commanders and boots on the ground.
Anyway.. here is his speech..
It was an awesome speech and it seemed to be well received by the Marines who were there.

Bobby Jindal Lied
It looks like the "story" that Bobby told us about Katrina was just that... a story.
According to Politico, a spokesperson for Jindal is now saying the story the governor told Tuesday night was just that, a tall tale. It didn't happen the way he said it did.
Of course, it wasn't that he lied, or that he misspoke or told a tall tale. It was just we misunderstood what he meant. I am not sure how you misunderstand "During Katrina". But that is what it says.
Of course, lets look at a few other things. The sheriff in question was also on Larry King's show, on Sept. 11, right after Katrina and for some strange reason he didn't seem to mention Congressman Jindal in his narrative of what happened.
So, what we have here is just another case it looks like of a lying republican. Gosh, the fun just goes on and on.

Republicans Unhinged, from The Huffington Post
This is from The Huffington Post and is just a continuation of the theme from Jon Stewart's program I posted below. It is also another part of the story I am still working on.
I am waiting on some emails I have out, in order to form my story. Once I get the answers I will be able to finish it, or at least I hope I will.
From the article at Huffington Post:
They call this "Worst Week Ever: Republicans Unhinged" I think that pretty well describes them. To say they are not going around the bend is to deny they even exist. They are still even questioning his birth certificate as is found in the article noted above, and then in this one noted here by none other than Jerome Corsi again.
Even though Pres. Obama has released his birth certificate and it has been verified numerous times, these wing nuts still persist in calling him on it.
I am interested to see what anyone else might think about these things. See what you think about what they are saying and how you feel about where they are headed. Let me know.

From the article at Huffington Post:
When Republicans suffered a disastrous beating in November's election, it would have been fair to assume that things could not get worse for them: the-most-liberal-Senator was to be president, Nancy-Pelosi-from-San-Francisco was going to lead a massive Democratic majority in the House, and assorted socialists were going to run things. That was bad, yes, but this week, just like the stock market (funny how that goes), Republicans hit yet a new low.
They call this "Worst Week Ever: Republicans Unhinged" I think that pretty well describes them. To say they are not going around the bend is to deny they even exist. They are still even questioning his birth certificate as is found in the article noted above, and then in this one noted here by none other than Jerome Corsi again.
"It is not going off the table because people care about the Constitution. And it is in the Constitution that a president needs to be nationally born," he replied. "It is not settled. Barack Obama has not released his natural birth certificate. I don't know what is on that document. I'm not a mind reader. But I know that politicians of note do not hide documents unless there is something embarrassing that they don't want seen. And a birth certificate should be a mundane certificate. Obama could make this issue go away."
Even though Pres. Obama has released his birth certificate and it has been verified numerous times, these wing nuts still persist in calling him on it.

Jon Stewart & Jason Jones Examine a Couple of Rumors About our President
Jon Stewart and Jason Jones look at some of the stories out there about Pres. Obama. There are some really wild ones and these are just a couple of the ones we are hearing. I will post another one in the next day or so. I am still working on it and trying to get some more information.
I will just let this one get to you from the viewpoint of The Daily Show. It still amazes me that sometimes they do a better job than our so called media.

Best Commentary To Jindal's Speech
Here is the best commentary to Jindal's Speech I could ever find. No other words need to be said.
Jindal's Big Night.. Big Failure For Him and the Party of NO!!!
I posted before about what has happened to the ones who gave the response to the President's Speech to the Joint Congress. It hasn't worked out well. Last night was certainly no exception.
After Jindal's less than stellar entry where he looked like gawky school boy, to the off cadence delivery of the lines, the entire speech was just a mishmash of lies and ignorance.
There is nowhere and no one who is said to have really liked the speech or the delivery, except the new RNC chairman Michael Steele. He said on Morning Joke this morning he thought it was great. He is the only one who put a positive spin on this disaster.
Here is what I found on Think Progress this morning:
From talking about the failed Republican Administrations response to Katrina he used to cite failed government policies to claiming that Pres. Obama was planning to raise taxes, when he just signed the largest middle class tax cut ever, it was clear Jindal was really off base.
So, lets look at what has happened to the past responders to the President's Speech to the Joint Congress and how mostly that has not been the jumping off point, but the ending of their career in the National spotlight.
1994 – Sen. Robert Dole (R-KS) LOST '96 PRESIDENTIAL ELECTION, OUT OF POLITICS
1995 – Gov. Christine Todd Whitman (R-NJ) BECAME EPA ADMINISTRATOR, NOW OUT OF POLITICS
1996 – Sen. Robert Dole (R-KS) OUT OF POLITICS
1997 – Rep. J.C. Watts (R-OK) OUT OF POLITICS
1998 – Sen. Trent Lott (R-MS) OUT OF POLITICS
1999 – Rep. Jennifer Dunn (R-WA) and Rep. Steven Largent (R-OK) DUNN IS DECEASED; LARGENT OUT OF POLITICS
2000 – Sen. Susan Collins (R-ME) and Sen. William Frist (R-TN) FRIST DECIDED NOT TO RUN FOR PRESIDENT, OUT OF POLITICS
2001 – No response
2002 – Rep. Richard Gehphardt (D-MO) LOST BID FOR DEM NOMINATION IN '04, OUT OF POLITICS
2003 – Gov. Gary Locke (D-WA) NOMINEE FOR COMMERCE
2004 – Sen. Tom Daschle (D-SD) and Rep. Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) DASCHLE WAS DEFEATED IN '04, OUT OF POLITICS; PELOSI NOW HOUSE SPEAKER
2005 – Rep. Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) and Sen. Harry Reid (D-NV) REID NOW SENATE MAJORITY LEADER
2006 – Gov. Tim Kaine (D-VA) STILL GOVERNOR, BUT ALSO DNC CHAIR
2007 – Sen. Jim Webb (D-VA) Still in Senate
2008 – Gov. Kathleen Sebelius (D-KS) Governor of Kansas

Here is what I found on Think Progress this morning:
Lousiana Gov. Bobby Jindal’s (R) response to President Obama’s speech tonight received a universal thumbs down from the Fox News panelists, who are traditionally conservatives’ most gentle critics:
BRIT HUME: “The speech read a lot better than it sounded. This was not Bobby Jindal’s greatest oratorical moment.”
NINA EASTON: “The delivery was not exactly terrific.”
CHARLES KRAUTHAMMER: “Jindal didn’t have a chance. He follows Obama, who in making speeches, is in a league of his own. He’s in a Reagan-esque league. … [Jindal] tried the best he could.”
JUAN WILLIAMS: “It came off as amateurish, and even the tempo in which he spoke was sing-songy. He was telling stories that seemed very simplistic and almost childish.”
From talking about the failed Republican Administrations response to Katrina he used to cite failed government policies to claiming that Pres. Obama was planning to raise taxes, when he just signed the largest middle class tax cut ever, it was clear Jindal was really off base.

Pres. Obama Adresses the Congress of the United States, The Nation and the World
Here is the Speech from the President to the Joint Congress of the United States, the Nation and the World. It was an awesome speech, and all I can say is WOW.
MSNBC had 25 people who voted for McCain and 25 who voted for him in the election and they had dialer's to register how they felt about his speech. They stayed almost on top of each other all the way through and remained at the very top of the meter all the time. I would say it never dropped below 90 to 95% ever. But, here is the speech.. You see what you think of it.
I am not going to post the response from Bobby Jindal. It is nothing but lies and stupidity. And it made no sense whatsoever compared to Pres. Obama.

I Have a Great Gov. and So Does Kansas
I have a pretty good governor here in Missouri. Well, so far anyway. He hasn't been in office long, but so far so good.
When Pres. Obama signed the Recovery Bill, the site Recovery.gov went active. Now my governor has followed suit. He has started his own web site and it is called, Transform Missouri.
It is a new site dedicated to the Recovery Plan, to solicit ideas from residents, local governments, businesses and non-profits. Gov. Jay Nixon, (D,MO) said he hopes to gather as many ideas as possible from a wide range of sources.
People can submit general ideas or more detailed proposals, which require a proposed timeframe and an estimated number of new jobs.
Missouri is slated to receive about $4 billion from the stimulus package, though that amount does not include competitive grants the state might secure.
Nixon said the money will be used for education and job training, new technology and infrastructure.
At the same time that Gov. Nixon, launched his site, his counterpart in the state of Kansas released her site.
Gov. Kathleen Sebelius, (D,KS), and Lt. Gov. Mark Parkinson said the site was created to help Kansans take advantage of the federal stimulus package.
From the site itself is this statement from Gov. Sebelius:
This is why I love elections, as they say they have consequences. We had a no account republican governor for 4 years. His name was Matt Blunt.. yeah Blunt.. Roy Blunt's Baby Boy... That Roy Blunt.. the one who is in the House of Representatives. Who stepped aside so Classy Eric Cantor could step up.
Who stepped aside so he could position himself to run for Kit Bond's Senate seat when he retires after this term. No great loss as far as I am concerned. He is just another lying rethuglican. As is Roy Blunt.
These are the things we have to celebrate, these web sites being put up and being used by our governors and by our government to help us stay on top of this Recovery Plan, to keep it transparent and to keep it honest. This is how we can do it, by tracking it, by watching it, by voicing our opinions of how it is used and how it should not be used.
If all the governors will do this type of thing, we will have something we have not had in a long time, truly we will have, Government OF THE PEOPLE, BY THE PEOPLE, FOR THE PEOPLE.

Fellow Kansans,
Welcome to Kansas’ web site for federal stimulus bill information, where we have brought together the most recent, comprehensive information on this important legislation.
This web site will help you learn more about the federal stimulus bill and the opportunities that it may provide you, your business and your community.
Here in Kansas we are working to maximize the resources needed to create jobs; provide assistance to families; build Kansas roads and bridges; and lower health care costs through modern technology. To learn more, please visit the federal stimulus bill highlights page. To visit President Obama’s webpage on the federal stimulus bill, please visit recovery.gov.
We hope you will check back often, as more information about the federal stimulus bill will be available each week.

Our President has a Sense of Humor
Our President is so funny sometimes....I think this is the direct quote...lol
"I will keep reaching out... One of these days even Eric Cantor will say that Obama has a good idea."
Just wanted to put this out there... I thought it was so funny.

Pres. Obama Speaks to Start the Fiscal Summit
Today the President gave the details for his Fiscal Summit. He charged the members with the job of setting goals and giving ideas for clearing junk from the budget. The group included members of the Congress, both Republicans and Democrats and then members of the business community. There are also economists who are helping them set guidelines.
Pres. Obama vowed to be honest with the budget and not use the Voodoo budgets that we have used the last 8 years to hide things Bush didn't want us to see. Things like the cost of the Iraq war, disasters and other things that were never part of the budget.
Watch and see what he has to say as he sets them off, to start into their groups to get started. I will never understand why the media says he isn't clear or has no details, or why the republicans say that. I think they are still suffering from Bush fatigue. They just aren't used to someone treating us like adults and speaking English instead of the gibberish we used to get from the former occupant of the White House, who couldn't put a clear sentence together to save his life.

Positive YouTube AD for the Recovery Plan from Citizens Who Care
Here is an answer to the Jesus video that a PAC made using the timeline and spending in the Recovery Plan. I think this small grass roots group did an amazing job. Take a look at it. Steal it and use it... play it, rate it up and lets get it out there to cancel out the negitivity.
This was done by a small group of Military family members who support Pres. Obama, they did all this on their own time, with their own money. They call themselves, CITIZENS WHO CARE

Glenn Beck Just Goes Farther Around the Bend
I am not an attorney, nor am I an expert on these things, but to me this is just unreal. Of course I am sure they get around it by saying it is a futuristic scenario, but then they start talking about raising the tax rate up to 90 or 95%. So to me they are sending a very mixed message.
Of course, Glenn Beck is about the wing nuttiest of all the wing nuts. But it looks like he found a couple of other to help him along. They are talking about a militia and military units attacking people here in the USA and overthrowing the Government.
Isn't that against the law?? Isn't that a plot against the President?? Am I just crazy?? See what you think.

Sen. Richard Shelby.. another Douchebag Rethuglican
Sen Richard Shelby just joined the Douchebag Crowd even more than he had already been. During a public meeting he answered questions from citizens in his home state of Alabama about the Recovery Bill and other things. Here is the articled in its entirety for you to read. I am posting it all because I don't want anyone to think I am just posting parts of it... I want you to see it in all it's wingnutiness..lol
Ben Smith at Politico has also emailed Sen. Shelby to ask about this, he is still waiting for his reply.
From the Cullman Times:
The emphasis is mine... Other than that it is directly from the Cullman Times.com You can check it out and see exactly what it says... what a douchebag.. He knows better than that. He is smarter than that. Well wait a minute.. he is a rethuglican... maybe he isn't.
Ben Smith at Politico has also emailed Sen. Shelby to ask about this, he is still waiting for his reply.
From the Cullman Times:
To Sen. Richard Shelby, borrowing $787 billion is not good fiscal responsibility.
“You can’t borrow your way to prosperity,” Shelby said. “We’re the largest debtor in the world. We’re stealing from our grandchildren.”
Shelby discussed President Barack Obama’s stimulus package and answered questions from the public at All Steak Restaurant during his annual meeting in Cullman County.
In front of a packed room, Shelby explained how he was a staunch proponent of fiscal responsibility and that he had opposed the $787 billion economic stimulus bill Obama signed into law earlier this week.
“If we (republicans) were in control, I would have been chairman of the banking committee ... and I would have killed some bills,” Shelby said with a laugh.
Shelby said he opposed the bill mainly because it requires the country to borrow billions for what he considers to be wasteful spending. In addition, he said he opposed the bill because nobody really knows yet where all the money will be going.
“Nobody’s read it yet,” Shelby said.
Shelby said to bring the country out of the current recession, Congress should not spend taxpayer dollars but instead straighten out the banking system that brought the economy to this point in the first place.
“I’m for more regulation of banks,” Shelby said. “The federal reserve is the regulator of big banks and they did a poor job.”
Shelby added that the larger banks, which the federal government bailed out last year, should have been allowed to fail.
“What I don’t want to see is a huge transfer of wealth from the taxpayers to banks that brought this problem on themselves,” Shelby said. “We’ll just have to prop them up again in the long run.”
After noting that since previous administrations have already placed the country more than $10 trillion in debt, local resident Matthew Glover asked Shelby what would be the problem with another $1 trillion debt from Obama’s stimulus package.
“He said some stuff about dividends ... but he never really answered my question,” Glover said.
Another local resident asked Shelby if there was any truth to a rumor that appeared during the presidential campaign concerning Obama’s U.S. citizenship, or lack thereof.
“Well his father was Kenyan and they said he was born in Hawaii, but I haven’t seen any birth certificate,” Shelby said. “You have to be born in America to be president.”
According to the Associated Press, state officials in Hawaii checked health department records during the campaign and determined there was no doubt Obama was born in Hawaii.
The nonpartisan Web site Factcheck.org examined the original document and said it does have a raised seal and the usual evidence of a genuine document. In addition, Factcheck.org reproduced an announcement of Obama's birth, including his parents' address in Honolulu, that was published in the Honolulu Advertiser on Aug. 13, 1961.
Hanceville Mayor Kenneth Nail told Shelby he and other local mayors were concerned if municipalities would ever see any of the money in the stimulus package.
“Nobody has given the mayors a clear answer on how to get this money,” Nail said.
Shelby said the reason mayors are in the dark about the stimulus package is because most of Congress is in the dark as well.
“They don’t know what is in the bill yet,” he said. “No criteria has been set to distribute the money.”
Shelby noted that once he knew all the details, he would do everything he could to ensure Alabama and local municipalities get the stimulus money they deserve.
“Since you’re (taxpayers) going to be paying for it, I’ll make sure as much as I can that it’s fairly distributed,” Shelby said. “I don’t want to wake up and see it all go to New York and Chicago.”
The emphasis is mine... Other than that it is directly from the Cullman Times.com You can check it out and see exactly what it says... what a douchebag.. He knows better than that. He is smarter than that. Well wait a minute.. he is a rethuglican... maybe he isn't.
My Reading List and Some Interesting Things You Might Like
I haven't been doing this blogging thing all that long.. lol But I do have several I love to read. I have my list there on the lower left... But there are some new ones I have been pointed to that are just wonderful and I wanted to share some of them with you.
The first one is on my list over there, I got to is from BobCesca's GDAB and I read them both every day. It is called BroadwayCarls Blog O Mania and today he has a great post up about the "real deficit" which talks about the fact that Bush never told us the truth about spending. The Iraq War was never figured into the budget, so all the money that has been spent there was never counted. So we don't know where we are really.. but we are going to find out.
Get ready to hear the rethuglicans roar over this...lol But, guess what, we have a grown up in charge and he isn't going to lie to us anymore. Thank you very much.
Next is a couple of new ones that I have stumbled onto, through Carl's blog. Consortiumnews is great and lets you know some things you might be surprised about. They have some great posts up about the Bush years, and have written some books about them and talk about the fact that there is a movement afoot to keep Pres. Obama from being re-elected to a second term.
It is a very interesting read and very informative. I found it quite intriguing and very believable. I see so much of it happening already and even see it playing out in the news and in day to day life as we go along.
The last one I wanted to share is along the same lines but is more newsy than blogger type.. but still interesting. It is a different perspective anyway. Lets you know that we really do have a grown up in charge and not a yes man like we had for 8 years.
They have a story about how Pres. Obama stood up to the commanders about troop deployment and didn't let them back him down. Which makes me feel better. It is called IPSNews.net and they will send you daily emails if you want or you can just go to them.
Well, that is my sharing for the day... Just wanted to let you into my head for a little bit.. see what I read and how I form some of my thoughts.
I don't like the fact that we are in any war, but at least I feel we are focusing where we need to be. Iraq was a wrong war from the start.. no there is never a right war, but we have to stand up to the people who attacked us, we can't let them think they have won anything. If we just walk away and let them regroup to attack us again.
I don't blindly support everything that our president has done or will do, like the republicans seem to think we "liberals" do, but I will support our troops and support the fight they are in, whether I agree with the war or not.
Pres. Obama is doing a great job so far, for the most part. There are a few things I wish he had done differently, but I am not ready to kick him out yet. It is early, he has only been in for just barely a month... and already he has done a lot more than most and more than Bush did in the last 3 or 4 years.

Santelli is a Fraud and a Rethuglican Cheat
I think we all have seen the rant from the floor of the Board of Trade by Rick Santelli the other day. How he called on Pres. Obama to stop with the Mortgage Fix he proposed and yelling about how it was forcing him to pay his neighbors mortgage.
Well, even though he was totally wrong about all his facts, he says he has a following. Maybe he does. As long as he is surrounded by people on the trading floor and they have to answer to him, and support what he is saying.
But, if he had really read the plan as it was proposed, and realized that it was not a reward for bad behaviour and not going to bail out the speculators and the ones who were flipping houses and lieing on their applications as he said, maybe he might have a leg to stand on.
This morning, I was reading over at Bob Cesca's GDAB and noticed a link to PoliticalCarnival. So I clicked over and was reading some of the posts there. Well, guess what I found. I found where someone had discovered that Santelli's rant was scripted and he had been outed.
It was posted to twitter by someone and here it is:
I have hammered Chris Matthews lately about his treatment of Pres. Obama but at least he did point out that Santelli was off in his rant on this matter. He questioned his motives and then questioned his politics. Santelli admitted that he was a Republican and voted for McCain.
There was also an interview of Santelli by Brian Williams, Matt Lauer and Steve Liesman talked to him about his rant.. watch it below:
He shows his ignorance and his selfishness. It's all about him and no one else.. typical rethuglican ignorance and it's ok if it is us doing it not you.

Our Prez Changed Hats to Daddy
Yesterday instead of Mr. President and the First Lady, for a little while it was just Daddy and Mom to a precious little girl. To her peers at the Kensington Parkwood Elementary School it was a surprise that will be something they will remember forever.
Just before 2 p.m., several miles north of the Washington D.C. border, to watch Sasha play basketball.
The Obama family have stated before they wanted to be part of the community they lived in and what better way than by letting the girls become part of the school activities. They are letting these girls have a normal life by playing sports and being regular girls. How much fun they must be having and what a lot of fun her and her dad will have playing hoops together at the White House.

Rep. Louie Gohmert Wants to Give the Money Back, But You Have to Let Him Win Again First
Once again.. the thought process and the audacity of these people amaze me. Just vote us back in and we will fix things. We have taken such good care of everything over the last 20 years...We kept the economy strong, we didn't screw up housing, we didn't screw up banking, we didn't screw up the FDA, we didn't screw up the EPA, we didn't start a war in Iraq, and I could go on and on and on and on... ad naseum.
Watch this clip and see what you think. This man has so much something... I am not sure what he has. It makes me ill, to think there are a lot of people who will believe this crap and will probably vote for him and put him right back in office.

Proof of the Bipartisanship in the Recovery Bill
This is from Alaska... but it shows how two Senators, one from each party, have differing views on the Recovery Plan. Yet, they don't have differing views on how the bill got put together. So it lays to rest the notion this was a partisan bill.
Neither of them dispute the facts when Sen. Mark Begich, (D, AK) says the D's and the R's all worked together to put this bill together and then went to the floor and the R's said it was too much spending and voted against it. Watch:
Quite funny....lol

Here is Our President
I don't know how anyone can say this man is not confident. Is not full of hope. Is not strong. Is not capable of leading us.
Progress on the Recovery Plan in Action
According to my KC Star this morning... The Recovery Bill signed into law by Pres. Obama is going to have great effect in both Kansas and my state Missouri sooner rather than later.
That's just one, there are several others, including these three projects which are also open for bids:
In Missouri, work started on the Osage River bridge near Tuscumbia, Tuesday right after Pres. Obama signed the bill into law. Yes, part of that was PR work, but it was also a show of confidence by my Gov. Jay Nixon (D). He is fighting a republican congress, who actually encouraged him to turn down the stimulus money. And of course our own Sen. Kit Bond, who voted against the bill, then scurried home to brag about bring home the bacon.
Here in Missouri, the bids are open for contracts Friday for 32 smaller projects sharing stimulus money.
All of the heavy resurfacing and highway repair work here in Missouri is contracted out. The Highway Department does the spot repairs and small repairs and patches. So this will mean jobs and money into the pockets of small and medium sized businesses and people will be going to work here.
I am excited to see this happening. We need this work done. Lots of this work has been put on hold for a long time due to not enough money in the states coffers, we have been told, and also to see the President's plan working. I am sure this is only one or two places it will be seen.
Hopefully we will begin to see other success stories coming out in the days to come. I hope others will post theirs too.
Kansas announced Friday that it is directing $84 million in stimulus money to widen U.S. 69 in central Overland Park between Interstates 435 and 35.
Traveled by up to 87,000 vehicles a day, this stretch is considered one of the state’s worst bottlenecks.
The highway, one of two major north-south routes through suburban Johnson County, gives commuters access to an estimated 90,000 jobs within a three-mile radius of where it intersects with I-435.
“This project will address serious congestion and safety issues and will enhance long-term economic activity,” Kansas Transportation Secretary Deb Miller said Friday.
Bids for the project are expected to be opened in May, with construction starting as early as June.
That's just one, there are several others, including these three projects which are also open for bids:
•$23 million for I-135/47th Street in Wichita.
•$11 million for Kansas 23 in Gove County to improve 16 miles of a narrow, 50-year-old road that lacks shoulders and has steep side slopes.
•$88 million for Kansas 61 in McPherson County to expand a 15-mile corridor from two lanes to four.

Among them was the resurfacing of 18 miles of Interstate 29 from Vivion Road toward Platte City.
The bids opened in Missouri were the second wave of several for doling out $640 million in stimulus money for highways and bridges statewide.
Other Kansas City area projects intended for stimulus money include widening Missouri 150 near Lee’s Summit and reconstructing the interchange at I-70 and I-435 in Missouri.

Morning Joke gets Put in his Place...AGAIN!!!
Morning Joke has been trying to quote Alice Rivlin, who was former Pres. Bill Clinton's Congressional Budget Office Director, in saying that the Recovery Bill that Pres. Obama has passed will not work and is just a "heaping pile of garbage".
He has stated over and over that she has stated it would not work. Well, yesterday morning he invited her on to talk to him and just before he introduce her, they showed all the short clips of him saying, her name over and over and how he thought she and he agreed.
Now of course we have to remember that Morning Joke is a former Congressman and he resigned from office and got a divorce from his first wife because of a scandal. Between the women he was having affairs with and then the dead woman they found in his office that was never explained that pretty well ended his first marriage.
But, that's another story. This is about his lies and the fact that Alice Rivlin did NOT back him up this morning. He was almost silent. He kept trying to get her to agree with him, and asked her in different ways if he wasn't right about putting $300 billion here and there and she just put him down in different ways.
Watch and see.. it was a thing of beauty.
I love watching him squirm.... AGAIN

Bubba says we need to have Hope..Gives Obama an A
Yep, Bill Clinton says Pres. Obama is doing fine...he just needs to give us a little bit of his home town... Hope...lol Well, I always thought he did.. guess I get the wrong message...lol
But, Bubba as they always called him says that the President needs to start giving us more hope...other than that he gives him an A and says he is doing everything else just right.
So, keep up the good work, President Obama...you got the stamp of approval from the last two Democratic Presidents. Sorry, ABC doesn't allow the embedding of their videos so you will have to click on the link to see their interview and/or read the article with Pres. Clinton. It is good.
And for the other, probably my favorite president. Jimmy Carter. I think he is so underrated and does not get the credit he should. This is such a gentle and great man and deserves way more credit than he ever got.
Here is his interview with KO on the 13th. Talking about the peace accords and his advice and how he thinks Pres. Obama is off to a great start also.
So, with the pat on the back from both of these two presidents what more could he want?? He has all of us behind him, he has these two good men behind him. Who cares what Wall Street thinks, Steven Pearlstein in the Washington Post I think said it best about them by saying that until they back trailer loads of money up to Wall Street they are going to do just exactly this. And I have a feeling if that's what they are waiting on.. they may be waiting a while.

House of Cards, CNBC Looks at the Housing Crisis....UPDATE
Last week, CNBC had a special on by David Faber, when I watched it, I did so with a jaded eye. Knowing how they feel about policing themselves usually, and how they are so tied into Wall Street and the bankers who are part of this mess that we are in.
So, I was pleasantly surprised when I found it was actually pretty good, and pointed fingers basically where they needed to be. From the web site of CNBC there is this review of the program:
Here is a quote from an internal email that was leaked out from one of the bankers that shows they knew exactly what they were doing and that there was no shame involved in it.
The above link will take you to the web site for CNBC and you can read more about this show which tells about this. It was a great watch. It tells about Bush's role in this, it talks about the role of many of the players in it, Chris Cox, SEC chairman, several other people who you wouldn't think about.
Another key player in this House of Cards, was former Fed Chairman Alan Greenspan. He is also featured in a story on Huffington Post. It also talks about his role in the banking mess and the housing crisis.
He had such a key role in this entire decade of deregulation and financial ruin of most of the middle class. He was along with most of the republican party pushing for the upper class and putting down the little guy.
As I said he was all for the wealthy, with nothing for the little guy...but that is typical of all republicans. My dad used to always tell me that the republicans were for the wealthy and big business and the democratic party was for the rest. Well I think we have seen that for sure.
When he was interviewed for the program House of Cards, Greenspan admitted his role in the housing crisis and said he was amazed when they told him how bad it was. This is what he had to say.
He then said if they had acted this is what would have happened:
That is my emphasis... but look at what he is saying... so would it have been better to have had that 4 years ago.. 3 years ago.. or now. Because that is what we have now basically. I guess he doesn't read the news...if you look at the real unemployment numbers, taking into account the ones who are working part time, who are now unable to draw and who fall through the cracks, our unemployment numbers are at about 13.5%, the stock market is lower than it has been in 20 years, the housing market has crashed, and our economy is in the toilet. So thank you Mr. Greenspan.
By the way...if you would like to watch House of Cards, it will be back on CNBC again Wednesday, February 25th, 8p ET; Sunday, March 1st, Midnight ET; Sunday, March 15 9p ET
************UPDATE**************
Just to add a note here.. Time had an article about the 25 People to Blame for the Financial Crisis, I didn't read it, I did look at the picture, but I was not interested in the article because I thought it was a little misleading just from some of the people I saw in the picture.
David Fiderer at Huffington Post has an article that exposes it as a rewriting of history. D.K.Raed pointed it out in her post over at Redheaded Wisdom. She has a neat article up about the story on Time and about the Frontline Program from PBS called Inside the Meltdown. It is still available online. You can go to her site and check it out and see the program there.
I haven't watched it yet. But am planning on it later today. Thanks D.K. for reminding me.

THE HOUSE OF CARDS
CNBC presents the definitive report on the defining story of our time. CNBC correspondent David Faber investigates the origins of the global economic crisis, with first person accounts from home buyers, mortgage brokers, investment bankers and investors – most of whom let greed blind them, leading to the greatest financial collapse since the Great Depression.
Here is a quote from an internal email that was leaked out from one of the bankers that shows they knew exactly what they were doing and that there was no shame involved in it.
Let's hope we are all wealthy by the time this house of cards falters. 12/15/06

He had such a key role in this entire decade of deregulation and financial ruin of most of the middle class. He was along with most of the republican party pushing for the upper class and putting down the little guy.
Greenspan's tenure coincided with a period during which total wealth increased dramatically, although much of the growth was concentrated among the richest of the rich, not just the top one percent of the income distribution, but the top 0.1 percent.
"I remember my initial response when [in 2005] a staff member came up to me and he says, 'I don't know if you have seen something like this'," while showing the then-Fed chairman data that subprime mortgages represented 20 percent of all new mortgages. "I said, 'I don't believe that number,'"
He then said if they had acted this is what would have happened:
if the Fed had taken action, the results would have been disastrous: "We could have basically clamped down on the American economy, generated a 10 percent unemployment rate. And I will guarantee we would not have had a housing boom, stock market boom, or indeed a particularly good economy either."
Most recently, Greenspan's ideological journey has taken an abrupt left turn. On February 18, the Financial Times reported that the one-time libertarian devotee of Ayn Rand now thinks the government might be best advised to take over 'lemon' banks. "It may be necessary to temporarily nationalize some banks in order to facilitate a swift and orderly restructuring," he said in an interview.
Now, there is no way to predict what the former Chairman will say in his next commencement address.
Take Action: Support a Truth & Reconciliation Commission
Here is your chance to support Sen. Leahy and his progress toward investigating Bush and Co. This can be the first step towards getting at least something done in the way of at least learning if there is enough to charge them with crimes.
If there is enough to charge them, they can either do it here or move it to the UN and take it to the World Court. But at least it is a step forward. So please sign the petition and lets move it forward.
Support Sen. Patrick Leahy and his Truth & Reconciliation Commission.

Full Petition Text:
I hereby join Senator Patrick Leahy's call for the establishment of a truth and reconciliation commission, to investigate the Bush-Cheney Administration's constitutional abuses so we make sure they never happen again. These abuses may include the use of torture, warrantless wiretapping, extraordinary rendition, and executive override of laws.
A truth and reconciliation commission should be tasked with seeking answers so that we can develop a shared understanding of the failures of the recent past. Rather than vengeance, we need a fair-minded pursuit of what actually happened. The best way to move forward is getting to the truth and finding out what happened -- so we can make sure it does not happen again.

Proof we Need to Go Green
I posted about going Green yesterday... well here is the reason we need to be thinking and doing just that. Proof that we need to be serious about it.
From Monsters and Critics: Researchers spot huge split in Antartic ice shelf
From Monsters and Critics: Researchers spot huge split in Antartic ice shelf
Madrid - Antarctica's Wilkins Ice Shelf is rapidly disintegrating, Spanish scientists reported on Tuesday, with potentially ominous implications for climate change.
An ice sheet of 14,000 square kilometres has broken off from the Wilkins Shelf, and has itself broken into several large icebergs, according to a statement from Spain's National Research Council (CSIC).
CSIC scientists aboard the Hesperides maritime research vessel spotted the disintegration, about 1,600 kilometres south of the southern tip of South America.
If their observation is confirmed, only a small tip of the huge 16,000 square kilometre ice shelf would still be attached to Antarctica.
Pedro Luis de la Puente, the captain of the Hesperides, said 'We have seen huge icebergs, which have split off from the ice platform. Some of these icebergs are more than 200 metres high.'
The scientists pointed out that such a disintegration of an ice sheet would lead to rising sea levels.
How Much Do We Know About Reagan and Is It True??
A couple of days ago, CSPAN came out with their new ranking of the presidents. With shrub at 36th I thought that was a pretty good fit for him. Unless of course they wanted to put him farther down the line.
I was also pretty proud of the fact that the native son of my home state, Give 'em Hell Harry was in 5th place. I could live with that, and with most of the others.
However, the one that I really didn't understand and have never understood was number 10, Ronald Reagan. What did or had he done that made him rank so high on this list??
I really can't remember anything he ever did that was so great, and I have thought about it. Yeah, I know, the hostages were freed when he became president. But did he really have anything to do with it? Or was that all Carter? How much did Reagan really do in the transition period??
I visit another blog quite often called Broadway Carl, and one of his bloggers had written up a spot about the rankings of the presidents, and in the comments I asked how Ronnie got so high.. so he wrote an answer to me.
It was good, and it linked to a Vanity Fair article that talked about some of the things that happened in the time during Reagan's term in office. How he was such a clown even Gorbachev didn't like talking to him.
It is well worth checking out.. if you want to see Armadillo Hussein Joe's take on Ronnie Ray-gunz, (as he calls him) it's pretty good.

Recovery.gov is live
The newest web site from our government is ready to go. Recovery.gov is live.
Here is how they describe it:
There are all kinds of neat things to see and discover. Take a minute to check it out and see for yourself what is there. A timeline to track what is happening. The full text of the bill. A place to share our stories how this is affecting us.
This is something unique. Never before has our government given us a chance to see exactly what it is doing with our money, how it is dispersing it, how it is spending it, to give us a chance to make suggestions on how to do it better.
I am sure there will still be criticisms, but this is really unprecedented. Spin this one GOP.
Here is how they describe it:
Recovery.gov is a website that lets you, the taxpayer, figure out where the money from the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act is going. There are going to be a few different ways to search for information. The money is being distributed by Federal agencies, and soon you'll be able to see where it's going -- to which states, to which congressional districts, even to which Federal contractors. As soon as we are able to, we'll display that information visually in maps, charts, and graphics.

Nate's Answer to Classy Cantor
Well, it looks as if we have a response to Classy Eric Cantor's latest video.
Nate of That's Right Nate put together a YouTube and has it set up to answer Cantor's Aerosmith Video. Take a look at his answer. Then go tell him what you think of his work. From my understanding he is a Moderate Conservative, so this is quite a step for him to criticize one of his own so to speak.
I also want to give a hat tip to Zen Yenta for pointing me in the direction of this wonderful video.

It is Time To Go Green
It is time we all started thinking about this. We need to start living green instead of just talking about it. Time did a top blog list and one of the blogs they listed was called Got2beGreen and it has all kinds of tips.
It is full of tips and hints and suggestions for living green, shopping green and just going green. There is every category you can imagine on there and it should help anyone figure out what they need to do.
It even has tax help, to show us what breaks we get from the new Recovery Bill now that we have it signed into law and can take advantage of it in the weatherization of our homes.
You may have to dig a little to find what you are looking for but I think you will find just about anything you might want. There is even a listing by state of resources available for you and events you can attend to help you get involved or learn more.
As I said it is quite comprehensive. Take a look and lets get our country headed in the right direction. It's time to GO GREEN.

Classy Eric Cantor Puts Out Another YouTube*****UPDATE*****
WELL IT LOOKS LIKE CLASSY CANTOR OVERSTATED HIMSELF AND GOT INTO TROUBLE WITH THE COPYRIGHT LAWYERS...HE ENDED UP WITH A CEASE AND DESIST ORDER...SO THE VIDEO ISN'T WORKING ANY LONGER...BUT I WILL LEAVE THIS UP JUST TO REMIND EVERYONE ABOUT IT.
FROM TPM:
Here is Classy Cantor again... with a new YouTube.. This time touting his holding the team together to vote NO on the Recovery Bill. Of course, if you look at the text that floats across the screen you will see the lie of ACORN, and other things.
All set to the sounds of the rocking beat of Aerosmith. Just take a look at his latest work. He is really proud of it. Comes from his web site and he wants everyone to know how much like Newt Gingrich he would like to be. Which means he and other Republicans are trying to do exactly what they did to former Pres. Clinton by opposing everything he did. He has stated he is in touch with Newt quite often.
So watch and see what you think of Classy Eric's latest contribution to the internets:
FROM TPM:
Cantor's clip has been pulled from YouTube after a copyright infringement claim made by Stage Three Music, which owns the rights to "Back in the Saddle."
The GOP's use of the tune "was something we, as the publishers, didn't approve and would not have approved without going to the writers," Connie Ashton, director of copyright and licensing at Stage Three, told me. "Aerosmith did not approve of its use and also wanted to have it taken down," she added.
Ashton added that House Republicans never contacted Stage Three to put in a request for use of "Back in the Saddle." Maybe they assumed it was okay because Joe Perry endorsed McCain last year.

How do you stand on the chart?
Thanks to Blue Gal, I now know what breed of Liberal I am...lol She has this test posted on her site so I decided to take it and see how I came out... Well here are my results. Check it out and see how you stand.
You are a New Left Hipster, also known as a MoveOn.org liberal, a Netroots activist, or a Daily Show fanatic. You believe that if we really want to defend American values, conservatives must be exposed, mocked, and assailed for every fanatical, puritanical, warmongering, Constitution-shredding ideal for which they stand.

MUST SEE on HBO, Starting FEB 21, Taking Chance
It is called Taking Chanceand it is the story of one Marine's journey "home" from the entry point at Dover, Delaware to his final resting place in the cemetary near his home town.
It is also the story of Lt. Col. Mike Strobl who saw Chance's name on the DOD's list and decided he had to Take Chance home. They came from the same small town, yet didn't know each other. It was not normally the job of an officer to be the escort of an enlisted man but something about this brought these two together.
I can't get the trailer for this movie to embed properly to see how the people react. This is a true story and this is what the Bush administration has kept us from seeing. This is the true cost of the war. But this is also the honor that is bestowed on our fallen heroes. For some reason none of the videos from HBO are embedding. So you will have to go to the web site to see them. I am sorry, but it is worth the visit.
I wish this was on more than just HBO.. I think it should be on regular broadcast TeeVee so everyone could see it. If you would like to see more clips, an interview with the real Lt. Col. Mike Strobl and see more behind the scenes you can check it out here at HBO: Taking Chance.
The honor that is given to a fallen Soldier, Marine, Sailor or Veteran is truly a moving experience. The beauty of it can't be described. The sound of Taps, the 21 gun salute, the folding of the flag. All done with precise movements, show a respect, an honor specially reserved for these fallen heroes.
But the fact that from the moment they fall, that once they return they are never alone is something that most people never know. They have an escort with them every moment of every day and every night. Ever vigilant.

President Obama Wants to Wish You a Happy Valentine's Day!!!
I always feel better after listening to our President. I am not sure why but I do. I really didn't have a very good day yesterday. But after hearing him this morning I do feel some better, he always gives me hope and strength and yes courage to go on.
Maybe it is just me being silly, and living in a jaded little fantasy world, but that's how I feel. Listening to him the other night in Springfield, he had just had two blows dealt to him one right after another, yet he still got up and laughed, and gave one of the best speeches I think I have heard from him in a long time.
That's what makes him such a great man. Out of defeat, out of the lowest depths, he rises up and grabs the highest. When the Rev. Wright mess was going around. He reached down and lifted himself up to the highest.
That's what I think he is doing with our Country. We have really gotten pretty low, our standing around the world, our moral, our economy, even sometimes how we feel about our selves. Just look at how the House and the Senate voted on this Recovery Bill. The Republicans lining up against the Democrats, it is almost as bad as the North against the South all over again.
Yet, he still reaches out. Even though there are some in the Democratic Party who keep saying stop. Even though there are some people who say Pres. Obama is unrealistic to expect the Republicans to reach back to him.
As he said the other day, he is optimistic. Well so am I. At least I try to be, and so far he has lived up to my expectations. Ok.. enough of my rambling on and on.. Let's hear what he has to say...
Ladies and Gentleman, the President of the United States:

Support Prop 8, Watch Fidelity and sign the Petition
"Fidelity": Watch the video and join our letter to the state Supreme Court, signed by over 200,000 people.
Tell the Supreme Court to invalidate Prop 8, reject Ken Starr's case, and let loving, committed couples marry. DEADLINE EXTENDED: March 2
We, the undersigned, share President Barack Obama's view that "for too long, issues of LGBT rights have been exploited by those seeking to divide us. It's time to move beyond polarization and live up to our founding promise of equality
by treating all our citizens with dignity and respect."
Yet, on December 19, 2008, Ken Starr and the Prop 8 Legal Defense Fund filed legal briefs defending the constitutionality of Prop 8 and seeking to nullify the marriages of 18,000 devoted same-sex couples solemnized before Prop 8 passed.
The Supreme Court will hear arguments in this case on March 5, with a decision expected within 90 days. We, the undersigned, ask that the Court enforce the equality promised to each of us by our constitution and invalidate
Prop 8. So doing will protect all loving, committed couples in California -- including the 18,000 who said "I do" last year -- and prevent the initiative process from being a tool for stripping vulnerable minorities of precious constitutional rights.
As Americans who believe in the rule of law and fundamental civil rights, we know that Ken Starr and the Prop 8 Legal Defense Fund's shameful attempt to nullify equal protection and all these bonded unions will be condemned in the eyes
of history. We know that, ultimately, love will prevail, no matter how hard they try to fight it.

Jon Stewart takes on John Sununu and the Recovery Plan
Jon Stewart takes on John Sununu,(R) former Congressman from NH. He asks him about the Recovery Plan and how the republicans seem to have suddenly become so fiscally responsible.
Trying to get him to explain how Bush took a surplus in the budget and turned it into a deficit, and how he pushed through a 1.3 trillion dollar tax cut and there sure wasn't this much pissing and moaning from the republicans or the democrats.
At least I sure don't remember it. That's the last time we were in a recession. When they claim he inherited it, although it started in March of 2001.
Take a listen, it is pretty good. I still have to ask, where is our media?? Why do they not ask these questions?? Why do they just let the republicans rattle on and on about how this is such a huge waste of money and it is going to make the deficit grow, yet they never talk about how Bushes tax cuts and the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan did the exact same thing.
Please don't misunderstand me, I support our troops, and I was 150% behind going after the cowards that attacked us on 9-11, however they were not in Iraq and I have never, ever supported that war.
That was Bushes war, it was a wrong war and it wasted money, lives and blood that didn't need to be wasted. It has cost us in so many ways. It is a HUGE part of why we are in the mess we are in. Jon Stewart believes that too...watch:

Get your Reading Glasses, the New Plan is up and it is LOOOONG
UPDATED
Here is the new American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009.
It is sloppy, it is written on, it is not pretty, but it is there. It reminds me of something I would take to the grocery store for my list. But that's what they have made available for us to read.
I suppose you could say it is a rough draft and say this is their working model and call it the work up model. They are still moving text around and finalizing all the fine points before getting it ready for a vote and ready to send to the President.
You can access the text here at Open Congress.org . It is in two parts, just over 1,000 pages and has an explanation with it. Not sure what the explanation is for.
******************UPDATE*****************
This is a little easier... it is a summary but it is all the numbers and is a breakdown of the plan in easy to read line by line spending. Much easier to read and understand. So American Recovery & Reinvestment Act of 2009, Act 2
******************************************
No, I have not read this one as of yet. This came in overnight and I have spent most of the night dozing and watching the news about the plane crash in the Buffalo area. How sad for this area, and for these people. My heart goes out to them all and to the flight crew.
Happy Reading everyone!!!

Pres. Obama Speaks at Springfield, IL to Honor Lincoln
I have always said I could listen to him talk for hours and when he is like this, I really could. Tonight it seemed he was really fired up. Maybe it was Gregg resigning like he did. That was a real slap in the face I truly believe. To do that when he was out of town was just wrong. But that is typical dirty republican politics.
So, for your listening pleasure, Ladies and Gentlemen, The President of the United States.
So, for your listening pleasure, Ladies and Gentlemen, The President of the United States.
Republican Gov. Bobby Jindal to give Response to Pres. Obama, Will that be the end of his career?
Louisiana Gov. Bobby Jindal, one of the GOP's so called rising stars, is supposed to give the Republican response to Obama's address to Congress on Feb. 24. According to MSNBC's First Read, here is a list of what has happened to others who have given the response to the President.
With a massive audience after the president’s delivery, this response might seem like an ideal perch to move on to bigger and better things. That, however, has not always been the case. See these past responders.
1994 – Sen. Robert Dole (R-KS) LOST '96 PRESIDENTIAL ELECTION, OUT OF POLITICS
1995 – Gov. Christine Todd Whitman (R-NJ) BECAME EPA ADMINISTRATOR, NOW OUT OF POLITICS
1996 – Sen. Robert Dole (R-KS)
1997 – Rep. J.C. Watts (R-OK) OUT OF POLITICS
1998 – Sen. Trent Lott (R-MS) OUT OF POLITICS
1999 – Rep. Jennifer Dunn (R-WA) and Rep. Steven Largent (R-OK DUNN IS DECEASED; LARGENT OUT OF POLITICS
2003 – Gov. Gary Locke (D-WA) OUT OF POLITICS
2004 – Sen. Tom Daschle (D-SD) and Rep. Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) DASCHLE WAS DEFEATED IN '04, OUT OF POLITICS; PELOSI NOW HOUSE SPEAKER
2005 – Rep. Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) and Sen. Harry Reid (D-NV) REID NOW SENATE MAJORITY LEADER
2006 – Gov. Tim Kaine (D-VA) STILL GOVERNOR, BUT ALSO DNC CHAIR
2007 – Sen. Jim Webb (D-VA) Still in Senate
2008 – Gov. Kathleen Sebelius (D-KS) Governor of Kansas
So, it makes you wonder, does he know the history of this?? What does he have in mind? He stated he wasn't planning on running in 2012, but what about 2016?? Was he going to let Palin take her shot this time, then come back in 8 years and try his? That would make him 45 years old then. Or maybe he is planning on a few years in the Senate first, then making a run for the White House.
If that's the case, this may not be the way to do it.

Happy Birthday Mr. Lincoln, reopening the theatre by Pres. & Mrs. Obama
Today is the 200th birthday of our 16th President, Abraham Lincoln. Without his foresight and wisdom, we wouldn't have our president today. So Happy Birthday and Thank You, Mr. Lincoln.
Last night, Pres. Obama and Mrs. Obama went to Ford Theatre to attend the reopening of the theatre and to start the celebration of the birth of this great man.

Ad Wars NOT SAFE FOR WORK
There is a case of competing ads I guess you could say... First there is the ad blitz that AFSCME and Americans United For Change are putting on Radio in support of the Recovery Plan. You can see that here:
Then there is the so called Ad that was sent out in return by a spokesperson for Rep. Eric Cantor, (R, VA) supposedly as a joke, I am really laughing snark heavily applied... THIS IS NOT SAFE FOR WORK All I can say is stay classy Cantor, stay classy. I always have thought he was a sleaze.
Now he or his "representative" realizes what a HUGE mistake this was.
However is that enough??? Why was it even sent in the first place?? If this guy works for Cantor, isn't he aware of Cantor's stance on things, or shouldn't he be??
One side tale here that made this more untenable: It turns out Cantor has a history of condemning profanity.
Why would he do this knowing that about his boss?? If Cantor really has such a hard stance on profanity, why would this idiot send out such a profanity laced video??
This really makes no sense to me. I can't wait to see what happens to this guy. If Cantor really doesn't like it, will he fire him?? Will he publicly denounce it like he would expect a Democratic Congressperson to do??
Time will tell.. As I said.. Stay classy Eric... Stay Classy.

Under fire from big labor unions for pushing the labor goon video, GOP Rep Eric Cantor’s spokesperson, Brad Dayspring, sends over an apology and makes it clear that his boss had nothing to do with the whole thing:
“I would like to apologize for a joke that was in no way an official response from Congressman Cantor, but instead an inappropriate email. I apologize to AFSCME for my inappropriate email containing an old video. Let me be clear, we know people are hurting in these trying times and House Republicans completely agree that we must pass an economic recovery bill that preserves, protects and create jobs for Americans facing these economic challenges.”
Dayspring had originally said he intended the vid as a joke that had nothing to do with Cantor, and there were no indications that his boss had known anything about it. But joking about labor amid the economic crisis, at a time when the House GOP opposed the stim package en masse and President Obama is hammering Congress for action, was inevitably going to be depicted by the left as a sign that the GOP leadership is out of touch with the economic pain of ordinary people.
