Col. Lawrence Wilkerson Talks to The Young Turks

The more I hear from Col. Lawrence Wilkerson, former Chief of Staff to Colin Powell, the more I like him. He seems very down to earth and even though he is a Republican he does believe as we all do that torture is WRONG.

He talked to Cenk Unger a couple of days ago and gave a very in depth interview about BushCo and Cheney. He explains what he thinks and knows happened in the years he was there, what he saw, heard and gives details.

Really juicy stuff. If you haven't heard it, it is a great 15 minutes. Some of the details he gives are that Cheney as we all thought was in truth the Co-President. He tells how he manipulated Bush and used him to get what he wanted.

Watch the video and here is the link to the site and the transcript so you can see what they believe are the relevant parts which needed to be highlighted.

Excellent. I wonder whether Wilkerson would serve on the kind of commission he endorse? Chuck Hagel, too.

I believe that when Wilkerson resigned he said that he could not serve an Administration that had room for Donald Rumsfeld and no place for Colin Powell.

He didn't even both to challenge the assertion that Bush isn't that bright.

That was really fascinating. I think that a commission might be a very good idea, especially after hearing this. It's becoming so clear that Cheney really WAS the president for a lot of the Bush administration's time. We suspected it, but it's coming out loud and clear from all sides now.

Like you say, it's not a surprise, but I was nonetheless appalled by Wilkerson's account of Bush's detachedness. He really was in over his head.

Yes. Anytime W. was in a uncontrolled/unrehearsed situation he always had that 'deer in the headlights' look. That look never left his face in the 'My Pet Goat' reading exercise in Sarasota once he was informed about the World Trade Center.

I got very tired of that "I'm incompetent and can't be counted on to do anything right" look over the eight years that that ass pretended to be the president.

Overachieving, overprivileged, fratboy asshat as pseudo-president. Quite a legacy.
